Poll: Hillary, Obama In Dead Heat In Texas
By Greg Sargent - February 18, 2008, 4:37PM

This is rough news for Hillary: A new CNN poll finds that she has a statistically insignificant two-point lead among likely Dem primary voters in her crucial firewall state of Texas:

Hillary 50%

Obama 48%

Mirroring other recent polls in other states, Texas Dems supporting one candidate aren't acrimonious towards the other: A huge majority of 79% said they'd be happy with Hillary as the nominee, and an equal amount said the same about Obama. We'll bring you internals when they're available.

1. Clinton's Support Is Collapsing
There's a point in the battle where the losing side just collapses. Dear Lord, I hope this is it.

8. This is what happens in nearly every state....
Hillary has substantial lead, usually 20+ points.
Hillary's lead slowly erodes.
The Obama and Hillary campaigns go full-court press in the state.
Obama starts to climb in polls and closes the gap within the margin of error.
Election happens and Obama wins!

Verrrrry interesting what is happening so early. Obama is gaining and coming within the MOE
even before Texans meet the full force of his campaign.

The momentum is carrying Obama to within striking distance earlier.

No doubt, this bodes extremely well for Obama.

Given these numbers, it looks like Obama will win Texas. Hillary had a 20-point lead there two
weeks ago. He's done nothing substantial in Texas during the past two weeks. Texans
are paying attention now. They're engaged. Hillary's "He only gives pretty speeches!" just
isn't that exciting to voters, I guess.

I think America is seeing that we need crushing victories against Hillary--if this thing is going
to be fair. If the race is close, everyone knows that Hillary will be wanting to cheat with
Florida and Michigan, and she'll be manipulating the twisting those Super Delegates like pretzels.

I hope this is just sooo over. He'll crush her in Wisconsin and Hawaii, and if we can crush in
Texas...that would be nice.

15. The supers are going to start rolling into Obamas camp very soon. It's all over,
everyone knows it except Hillary.

The party is going to have to pull her plug if she keeps embarressing herself and the party with her daily stupid petty faux outrage attacks on the nomineee.

14. Texas has a convoluded system to assign delegates too....
The interesting thing is how TX delegates are distributed.
This is detailed, and much better read in full by those interested.

There was an argument before this latest poll for Obama winning TX under these rules:

A lot still hinges on WI and HI. I would imagine increased, continued, or a halted momentum could effect both OH and TX in a major way.

17. What does "likely Democratic primary voter" mean?
Does it mean only Democrats (by registration) were polled?
Or, does it mean that only people who said they were going to vote Democratic were polled?
Obviously, it makes a big difference if Indies and Goopers can crossover to the Dem primary in TX. I wish these pollsters would clarify this.

21. Most likely what it means...
...is that the people polled said they were "likely" or "very likely" to vote
in the Dem primary.

I'm from Iowa, and we received these poll calls at least every few days

They first ask you who you are supporting in the Dem primary. Then they ask you
how likely is it that you will attend the primary and vote. They only gather and
release the opinions of those who say they are "likely" or "very likely" to participate
in the primaries---because this is supposedly a more accurate gage of what will happen
at the polls.

19. Hillary can take her mandates to russia, for all I care.

Here is one thing that appears to not be a lie she is spreading…her healthcare coverage WILL BE universal. But here is another truth that she never bothers to mention (and I for the life of me CANNOT figure out why the Obama campaign has not jumped all over this)…her universal coverage amounts to mandated coverage, which correct me if I am wrong, is yet another action of government to force us to do something and repeal our freedoms.
Obama has it right…make healthcare affordable and for those who want it, they finally will be able to get it because it will be affordable. Hillary, lady, if you think I am going to let you or anyone else force me by penalizing me to carry health insurance when I take care of myself, work hard to save to pay for healthcare when and if I need it at my own choosing in this country where healthcare delivery is rife with errors and greed, you won’t be the only one creating negative TV ads!
This is the United States of America, land of the free, last time I checked, not land of mandated healthcare coverage. At least not as long as that tax loophole for medical travel exists :-)

20. And another thing...
And by the way, she is not offering Universal "health care," she is offering Universal "health insurance" and there is a difference between the two.

So wake up, Hillary clones, because your candidate is looking more and more corporate as she becomes exposed.

22. Obama means no universal health care
Because shes offering something feasible not a dream .
Whereas Obamas plan wont work at all .
With Obama ,we'll end up with either no change or else a mandate.
With Obamas plan you can choose not to buy insurance until you get sick. Then you burden the system with your bills because you cant be turned away with preexisting conditions .Great for slackers bad for reality.

You really need to instead of spewing crap like this. Go read and then provide some links proving your assertion. Thanks.
