KCCI Poll: Dean Gains Support(IOWA)
http://www.theiowachannel.com/politics/2440457/detail.html

The exclusive KCCI News Channel 8 poll, conducted by Research 2000, finds Dean leading the pack of 10 candidates who are running or considering a run for president of the United States. The poll, conducted Aug. 25 through Aug. 27, shows that if the Iowa caucuses were held today, 25 percent of those polled would support Dean. Missouri Rep. Richard Gephardt is second with 21 percent, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is third with 16 percent and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman is fourth with 12 percent. The other candidates are all in single digits.

This newest poll is a huge leap forward for Dean. In the last KCCI NewsChannel 8 poll conducted June, 2003, Dean was in third place with 11 percent. Richard Gephardt was in first place in June with 27 percent.

1. I look at the leading candidates and wonder what the heck...
people are thinking.

Do these people even stand for anything that will make America, the world, or anything a better place?

I truly don't believe it.

If it is siding with Bush on his tax cuts, supporting Israel 100% while leaving the Palestinians in the dust, or simply not coming up with a sound solution to unemployment...the leading dem candidates are just PATHETIC. How can they garner any support?

I can't believe this. I tell ya...if Kucinich doesn't win...I might as well leave the country...this place is screwed either way.

Good think I'm taking french in college, looks like I'll need it in Quebec.

2. How is Dean saying that he will repeal all of the tax cuts siding with
bush? He's not great on I/P, but I think he'll do pretty well with unemployment. I agree that I'd rather see Kucinich be president, I just don't see it happening.

3. Tax cuts wasn't exactly directed at dean...
although at one point(many months back before he flip-flopped(something he does quite often)) he said he would only cut back SOME of the tax cuts. http://desmoinesregister.com/news/stories/c4789004/21393032.html

This was directed at LIEberman and Kerry who continue to lead the polls.

You are right, Dean's stance on Israel is horrific and totally one-sided. How can anyone support such an evil-doer?...I have no idea.

And unemployment...I've only heard Kucinich come up with a pretty damn good plan...the government hires people! My goodness...the new new deal...reinvesting in America's infrastructure...our roads, our pipelines, etc...; reinvesting in our future...our education system, renewable sources for energy, our farms.

Truly, the only government job provided for the jobless shouldn't be the armed services...we can do better than that.

surely there is more than just these 3 issues. The first 3 issues that popped into my head at the moment.

The leading candidates suck on many more issues than just those 3...now how the hell are they leading in the polls? THESE CANDIDATES SUCK!

5. Dean on jobs
he and Denis share many similarities here except on nafta. For what its worth heres his basic plan

In promising to reverse the downward trend in the country's economic situation--which has seen nearly three million jobs lost under President Bush and the highest unemployment in a decade--Dean outlined a six-point plan for stimulating growth and creating jobs:

--Raising the minimum wage to put more money in the hands of working Americans

--Expand unemployment insurance to cover more full and part-time workers

--Expand aid to state and local government for homeland security and through doubling the Community Development Block Grant

--Invest in job-creating infrastructure programs like school construction and increasing rural broadband access

--A health care plan that reduce costs to employers and frees up additional private money for investment and job creation

--A trade policy that ensures that strong and enforceable labor provisions are included in all trade agreements--to ensure that trade helps both us and our trading partners shore up middle class jobs.

4. Wow! NewsChannel 8!
Whenever I get up in the morning, I always check NewsChannel 8. Because they always have their exclusive polls which are infinitely more respectable than anything else, and even though they are in Iowa and I am hundreds if not thousands of miles away, every speck and scrap streaming from their website is 100 percent relevant to me and my life.

:P Satire.

You piled on way too many descriptors for that poll. "exclusive" was totally unneeded. "8" could have been left out, and "NewsChannel" was not essential.

6. and if he had left that stuff out
he would have been accused of others of editting the quote. I think it is always good to quote the whole quote even if it includes hype.

7. It's called a quote from the webpage
so what's the big deal about using the language, it is not the person's posting it? The relevant information is the poll results.
