DeanLink...what a cool tool...
I continue to be impressed with Joe Trippi and his people and the tools and ideas they continue to develop to draw people in, keep them involved, and get them excited.

They've unveiled today a completed DeanLink system - it's url is

http://deanlink.deanforamerica.com/

Anyhow, it's a pretty slick Internet-based tool for community building. It takes some of the best ideas from online community building sites like Yahoo! groups or MSN Communities, welds it to some from online personals sites...and it looks great!

You register on the system and then you have access to the people who are closest to you geographically, with a profile and e-mail connection...you have a schedule of the events near you. I'm in Bloomington, IL...and up popped some of the events planned over in Champaign-Urbana and the University of Illinois. It also has the links to websites supporting the Dean campaign in Illinois.

It's just a very cool system which continues to build on the Meetup tools, the scads of downloadable signs, button, bumper sticker, note cards, etc. material that is available...it's all there for people to build their own part of the campaign! Gone are those days when I felt like I had to scour the earth to find a yard sign or get some contact with an official national campaign! Woo Hoo!

I don't know which of the other candidates are using any of this...I hope they are...because I'm too busy trying to get together bumper stickers, buttons and flyers for tonight's Meetup.

The best thing about all of this...hope is in the air!

1. Best Site By Far
I signed up 3 months ago to receive info from Al Sharpton, but so far I have received nada. Al, he must not have a very computer savy staff - Kucinich is pretty good, rest are lagging in ideas - Not Dean - the info available on their site is impressive

4. They have held true to their word...
I signed up for the mailing list back in early August...and they promise no spam...except the last 3 weeks of the quarter. I was only asked for money when the bat was brought out to match Bush's fundraising in Portland.

The DeanLink system is new, and is intended for people to connect. If you're at all familiar with meetup.com, one of its big problems for connecting is that you can't email directly...you do depend on people showing up in person or at least reading the website. The DeanLink system takes that barrier out of the way.

5. I signed up
It's pretty cool. Already found a few people locally. They're at 2000 people and growing.
