Moby "endorses" Kerry
Though not a politician, he has expressed outright support for John Kerry. Just check Moby's journal at his website.

I'm not a big fan of techno, although I enjoy listening to Moby's latest hits from time to time. But Moby strikes me as one of the more intelligent and thoughtful musicians out there. He is a deeply spiritual man who majored in philosophy. I'd want his support any day.

PS Moby's a vegan right? For that reason, I thought he'd support Kucinich, like James Cromwell did. Sort of like a vegans stick together.

1. I dunno but good endorsement
Even better is hearing that Kerry is no fan of nuclear weapons either like DK. Yet another reason to like Kerry and Kucinich. I am not sure whether hes a vegan or not. BTW I am a meat eater for the vegan Kucinich :) mmmmmmmm ribs. Ive seen Cromwell speak about DK, I dont know of him too well but I really liked him as Warden Hal Moores in the Green Mile, so thanks to that movie I am a big opponent of capital punishment like Kucinich and Kerry I think opposes it too. Congrads on that endorsement. We recently got a Iowa peace group to endorse us.

2. Cromwell was brilliant in L.A. Confidential, such a bastard!
I loved the Green Mile as well.

3. That movie and a RS article are why I am a big opponent of the death
penalty. Just hearing that beautiful main theme can bring me to tears. Even the guards cried when they had to pull the plug and it was so beautiful too, I just wish Coffey hadnt died. My favorite quotes are:

Paul Edgecomb: On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say? That is was my job? My job?
John Coffey: You tell God the Father it was a kindness you done. I know you hurtin' and worryin', I can feel it on you, but you oughta quit on it now. Because I want it over and done. I do. I'm tired, boss. Tired of bein' on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. Tired of not ever having me a buddy to be with, or tell me where we's coming from or going to, or why. Mostly I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world everyday. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head all the time. Can you understand?
Paul Edgecomb: Yes, John. I think I can.

That main theme just is so beautiful. Music I always find a way to connect it to my mind set.

11. Oh God yes!
That Tom Hanks performance was sublime. I think a lot of people think they're too cool to like Tom Hanks or something. But I'm not one of them. He's easily the best actor in Hollywood right now, except maybe for the chameleon-like Kevin Spacey.

13. Yeah I take no shame
After Bobby D one of my favorites. I think hes a great actor and I really cried when he died in Saving Private Ryan, Cpt Miller was such a likable character the kind of guy who would had been your teacher in civilian life well he was but I liked how he was an engima. In Green Mile he was terrific, "What I am going to tell god that I excuted one of his greatest gifts" and I think this is neat too he is a big time democrat not that it matters but I would love to watch saving private ryan, road to perdition, band of brothers, or something he is involved in.

12. LA confidential
is my favourite movie. i liked guy pearce and russell crowe (before he got popular) when i saw them. and i remember thinking (at the end) "farmer hoggett is evil?!?!?!"

also, edward norton (oh my goddess, hottness!) maxed out already for kucinich.

i wonder why moby is endorsing kerry as he (moby) is vegan, antiwar and anti death penalty and anti drug war.

15. Says a lot about Kerry's liberal credentials, huh? =)
This is why I particularly like Moby's support so much. I think a lot of people aren't aware that Kerry's a big time liberal. IMHO, as far left as one can get, being a mainstream Democratic congressman. I think a lot of people just see IWR and think he's a Lieberman or something, which is so off-base it's repugnant.

JohnKleeb, I loved Saving Private Ryan too. I think there's a sort of backlash against it, from the people who think they're too cool for Spielberg and Hanks. Pure elitist bullshit IMHO. SPR was a great movie with ground-breaking battle scenes/style which every war movie will emulate in the future. Perhaps it was a little devoid of true characters, but the actors played it to their best and although a bit stereotypical and static, they were all funny and heart-breaking to see them die. I thought it was robbed in 1998 for Best Picture. Shakespeare in Love was an excellent movie, but it shouldn't win in a year that had SPR in it. Perhaps their anti-Spielberg feelings clouded the Academy?

16. hes a senator
Yea Kerry is pretty liberal although I prefer Kucinich. I will state again Kerry is my 2nd pick. A backlash you dont say, well lol everyone loves Shakespeare lol I am not a big fan. The acting in SPR was great and also when I read All Quiet on the Western Front and you arent gonna believe this and this is so cool you forget that these guys were your nation's enemy well you know it but you dont care. I felt real bad to see one of my favorite characters die.

17. i like kerry
like john, kerry is my second pick. i was just saying that kucinich would seem, based on what i know about moby, would a better political match.

and about saving private ryan. ya'know. i went to see the movie when it came out (that summer i think i saw every movie, a the joys of being a highschool student without bills to pay). and for a movie of that genre, i left the theatre not really feeling anything. and you shouldnt leave a movie like that not feeling anything. maybe i was just a cynical teenager, but i was a world war fanatic and it still did nothing for me. maybe i should watch it again.

18. yeah I guess you are right
My joke about Kerry and why hes my backup is hey you cant be that bad to get on Nixon's enemy list. Actually the real truth stems from a very liberal record in the senate among others.

4. Good for him.
Tough to choose among so many fine candidates. I'm a Deanie but if Kerry gets the nod I'll work enthusiastically for him.

20. James Taylor is an old friend...
in fact, alot of folks who hung out with Clinton are longtime friends of Kerry's.

It just occured to me that Marian Wright Edelman is a VERY old close friend of Hillary Clinton's and SHE came out supporting Kerry.

22. It is my understanding
That the clintons will come out in favor of one of the DLC candidates by the end of the year. The DLC made Clinton, and CLinton made thee DLC one might say.

8. Maybe Moby is supporting Kerry
because Kucinich has no shot at the nomination. If you aren't polling above 3% in either New Hampshire, Iowa, or South Carolina, your days are numbered.

10. could be it
I will say it again. I am a Kucinich supporter with Kerry as a second choice. You bet I like what Dean has done organizing all these people but (I know this about Kerry) but heres why I like Kucinich compared to Dean on the Iraq War and no I dont plan to use this as a litmus test but it shows you why I think if you devoutly opposed the Iraq War and protested against it on the streets and have a choice between Dean and Kucinich, and why I think Kucinich is better on it. Ok First off early Winter 2002 Dennis Kucinich made a passionated cry against the war at the prayer for America that started the draft Kucinich movement unfortunely I had no idea at the time and was supporting Al Gore for the nomination. Also last fall Dennis Kucinich voted against the war resolution and in Winter 2003 in NYC spoke at an anti war rally despite the fact he was a congressman. One could say with deep regret the only mistake DK really made was enterring too late and by that time many imho anti Iraq war people were with Dean. I sincerely think and I could be wrong and dont flame me for this but I think Dean's anti Iraq war rhetoric is one of the reasons why he is doing well. Dont flame me on this I was originally for Dean after Gore withdrew of course I didnt know about Kucinich and Dean was alone being anti Iraq war. I dont think I exactly had a candiate though I leaned on Dean before I supported DK. What really got me on to DK was his oppostion to the frivlous and bullcrap Taft-Hartley bill, thats something Ive thought to be plain horrible. Plus I liked how Dennis had many great stands. I do and I could be wrong by saying that Dennis's mistake was enterring too late but it wasnt late late but just late I guess.

23. Why?
Clinton was polling at 2 percent at this time in 1991. Looks like Kucinich is having a better turnout than CLinton did at the same time.
