5. Are you suggesting

that Bush served his full term in the Guard? There are only two options; either he served his term or he didn't. The fact is he didn't, thus he's a deserter.

Well, technically he wasn't a deserter, he was just a plain old sissy AWOL. As I rember the difference it was that if you could show that someday you thought you might come back to the military and turn yourself in they you were just AWOL no matter how long (or was that 1 year?) but if you had no intention of comming back it was desertion. Intent could be shown by continuing to carry your Military ID or dog tags or something.

As to Bush' military (he said laughing) career its pretty straight forward. He was in the Texas Air National Guard, a position gained by family name in those Viet Nam days when the Guard was jammed full of the sons of the rich and and unavailable to the servent class. Anyway he was in for 5 years but was AWOL for one of them. Think about that, 20% of his military career was spent AWOL. What squeeks my ass more than that is that he portrays himself to be the fighter Pilot. In truth he refused to take a drug test right out of flight school and was grounded as a result. Never mind that any other pilot would have been court martialed for refusing to take the drug test but just realize that the twerp never flew again. His only figher pilot activity was in training, he never actually got to fly the things because he was stoned and couldn't take the fuggin' test without the world finding out.

As a 3 tour Viet Nam vet I do not take that sort of shit lightly.
