Where's the beef, Kerry?
John, put that hairbrush down and pull yourself away from the mirror for a second. We need to have a little talk.

What's that, you're not sure you want to sit? You'd like to sit some of the time and stand some of the time? You're saying that by sitting, that in no way means you don't like standing?

OK, but that's exactly what we need to address. You were supposed to be a maverick, a thoroughbred, galloping toward the Democratic nomination with all those glue horses in futile pursuit.

But what's happened is, you're starting to look like a jackass. In New Hampshire, you're 12 points down in a Globe poll to a guy nobody knew back in May. Howard Dean? When you were railing on the Senate floor about huge national issues, he was, what, speaking to the Montpelier Elks? When you were fighting in Vietnam, he was, where, in a white coat learning how to give a flu shot?

4. Insultingly condescending
I doubt the writer would say any of the same things to John face to face. Not because John is prone to violence, but because he would rhetorically tear McGrory's petulant criticism to pieces.

"Look within, not without"? who the fuck does he think he's talking too?

6. A quote I picked-up:
"The lip-lock between Dean and the national press will inevitably end.."

I was waiting for this to happen.. for the romance to stop. But Dean was all over TV yesterday.. the big three networks and CNN, along with a forum. I keep waiting for the media to turn on him. There's a negative article hither and thither, but most of the publicity is still pretty nice.

Also: the end of the quarter fast approaches. Fundraising totals. More media attention will be bequeathed, especially if Clinton's record is broken.

8. Tell it to William Weld. Kerry let him get ahead, too.
It's the position he is comfortable in, just like a long distance biker.

Would the Deanites like to see one on one debates between Kerry and Dean?

9. If I Knew We Could Post This Level of Trash
I could give you piles of anti-Dean BS. Believe me when I say not to take me up on that.

Ps - Dean wasn't learning to give flu shots. He was laying cement off the slopes of Aspen (with his bad back and all, he was really taking a risk).

10. My email response to Mcgrory sent earlier this morning...

Subject: Your column of 9/9/03 on John Kerry

Your column of 9/9/03, or should I say, hit piece on John Kerry , is wholly without merit. John Kerry knows exactly who he is and what he stands for. Apparently, you did not watch the last Democratic debate in Albequerque; Kerry was relaxed, witty, and in control.

Anger does not work. It will not work for the flipflopping Howard Dean in the long run. Dean may have temporarily won the hearts of some of the anti-war activist left, with his craven, opportunistic stands (albeit conflicting, but unacknowledged by his "true-believers" )against the war in Iraq, but Dean's lack of readiness for the presidency is beginning to become apparent--showing especially in recent live television interviews, TheToday Show to name one.

Have you watched Kerry's Iowa campaign ads on his website? I suggest you do so; they are quite moving and inspirational. The man is neither aloof nor arrogant--the latter quality is one frequently displayed by the thin-skinned Howard Dean. Why the media wants to further this meritless image of John Kerry is worth pondering, as it makes no rational sense.

I suggest you look in the mirror and try to understand what is motivating this vicious and meritless attack on your own Senator--who is the best qualified Senator ever to seek the Presidential nomination of his party--my party--the Democratic party.

12. Hey Kerry fans, it's GOOD advice!
Forget all the little cutsie comments that the guy writes to float his own boat. Get to the meat of it.

Kerry does need to lighten up. I've thought that for a while. I like him best when he is natural and approachable. There's a time for intellectual speeches, and I love those too. But I'd like to see alot more of John being John. And he is also best when he speaks from the heart and he should trust his instincts more. He was GREAT on Buch & Press and Hardball yesterday. Especially when he was REAL. So it's good advice and let's just take it that way.

14. Kerry has made several (actually funny!) jokes lately
At the debates, Kerry joked that we could ask other countries to live up American standards, but that doesn't mean they'll actually do it. (Funnier in context)

He also joked that the only jobs Bush created were the 9 candidates, and that since the economy had a little bump it proves that "good things happen when George Bush is on vacation."

The doozie, though, comes from his announcement speech at Boston. The feeling in the air was wild and Kerry's delivery was flawless, so the joke came off very well.

"Five thousand years ago, Moses said: 'Hitch up your camel, pick up your shovel and mount your ass. I'll lead you to the promised land,' " Kerry said. "Five thousand years later, Franklin Roosevelt said: 'Light up a Camel, throw down your shovel and sit on your ass. This is the promised land.' Today, George W. Bush lays off your camel, taxes your shovel, kicks your ass and says there is no promised land."

13. Kerry
Was a Lawyer and an Attorney General in Mass.
He went to Vietnam, served his country and recieved some of the
highest awards and medals
I like Dean too, but that does not compare to John Kerry

15. This had me falling off my chair in laughter
"So what to do? First, heat up. Dean looks angry, like someone just wrecked the car. You look confused, like someone just stole yours."

Funny article, nothing to be taken too seriously, but enormously entertaining to read. Thanks for posting! :)
