If Dean's wife didn't think Dean won last debate, who did she think won?
I don't have a link, but I read here at DU earlier quotes from article by a reporter who heard half of Deans conversation with his wife after the last debate.

It sounded like, when Dean asked her who she thought did the best, she didn't say "You, Howard. You're always the best." His reply was something like, "yeah, that's what I thought too" (rather than, "thanks").

So who'd she think did the best, and what's Dean going to do about it?

1. I don't know
most people thought Dean turned in a good debate performance and I guess that is what counts.

2. huh?
I don't get the point of your post, but I think it was the NBC 'embed' reporter who wrote that. Check their website.

I don't know why I'm responding to your question, but my guess is that Judy Dean thought Al won the debate. And why should Dean do anything about her having her own opinion?

7. Pure Speculation
Fun, but pointless.

I'm sure she thought Gephardt came out on top.

9. My point was that, if Dean's camp thought someone else won the debate
it might be interesting to see what happened over the next few days that might have been strategy resulting from the perception of the debate winner.

If it was Gephardt, what did he do right? How can you flip those strenghts into weaknesses?

10. This thread is nothing more than
taunting and teasing of another candidate. Shameless posting does nothing for our party but only divides.Ultimately support the republican party.

A sincere democrat would re-evaluate this behavior. It feels like I'm listening to Fox...... :puke:

13. I don't follow your logic. Everything I've said is in anouther post
which was well recieved, I believe.

I'm just saying, "who do you think Dean's wife thought won the debate?"

And I took this one step farther in one of my replies, and asked 'did the answer to this question manifest itself in any subsequent campaign strategy?"

12. The post I read, I believe, speculated that Dean's wife didn't say Dean
won. (it may even have been the reporter who said it).

I'm just taking this line of thought to the next step.

16. You really should provide a source, AP. Here is the source for you.

THE TRUE JUDGE

Dean, who claims to call his wife every evening, made a heartfelt post-debate call home. In it he asked Mrs. Steinberg who had won the debate and a few other questions. Excerpts from the conversation follow.

“Hello my dear. Good, good. What did you think about the end? Yea. I just wanted to (interrupted), why, why just out of curiosity? Yea, right. It was about defense and restoring honor and dignity to the United States. Uh huh. Ahh. Yea, ok. Yea. Ok, that is a good thing to do. Uh huh. Ahh. Oh my goodness. Ah. Good. Who did the best? That is what I thought too, that is what I thought too. Yea. Yea.” (Could it be the governor came in second?)

Later, Dean noted that his son, Paul, would have liked his choice of Jaspora by Wyclef Jean as his (Dean’s) favorite song. However, from the phone conversation with home it appears that Wyclef has yet to penetrate deep into the Dean household, the governor stating, “You don’t know who he is? He is a big favorite of Paul’s,” to his wife. (As to why Jaspora was selected as his favorite, Dean said he has more than one favorite song, this particular tune just jumped to the forefront. Could it be the CDs the kids leave behind in the car?)

For the romantics in the crowd, Dean signed off saying “alright my sweet.”
