1. I Admit It
I have a weak spot for Kasey. Pets for Dean is a fantastic idea. I really wish Kerry's camp had thought of it.

2. Thank you
I appreciate you desire NOT to have Dean as the nominee but thank you very much for pointing out that this was a cute idea.

3. Well, my dog Zuma
could care less about any of the candidates. I've tried, but he's quite cynical about it. Like most of the country, he can't name a single Democrat running for president. Sigh.

8. Awwww, thanks guys! He has a good story too
He really is a wonderful and gorgeous dog. And you are close: he is a border collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix.

His story:
About a year ago, a little boy was walking down the street on a very hot day and heard some puppies crying from inside of a car. He looked inside and it was clear that they were dying -- the car was locked but a window was slightly open, and no one appeared to be around. He ran home and got his mother...and his SuperSoaker squirt gun! He squirted water on the puppies until the police arrived and opened the car. The vet who treated them said they were within about 5 minutes of dying from the heat. The vets did a CAT scan (yeah I know, he'll never live it down) to make sure there was no brain damage, and they were taken to the animal shelter, where my daughter happened to be volunteering for her 5th grade class.

The story got a lot of press, even national (CNN I think) because the little boy was so clever to get his squirt gun to save the dogs.
He got a medal from our local police dept. as well.

Dr. Laura even used the story on her show -- she said something like, "See, this proves we should let children play with guns, especially squirt guns!" or some such nonsense.

12. Wow
My first thought was that I wondered if the dog had been damaged by this inhuman neglect. That is an incredible story, the kind you see on Animal Planet and just go, "wow." Zuma is a very lucky puppy to have met your daughter. Now he's living the high life on the beach!

7. gotta hand it to the Deanies
This went from a non-existent event created in a comic strip, to a real life event with almost 60 registered participants (that means like 150 will show up), to something that has civic value tied into it (canned-food drive and beach clean-up). Free advertising, community service, and a really kick ass idea.

I love this campaign.

11. The Food Drive/Clean Up Is a Great Idea
Again, I am forever being impressed by the resourcefulness of the Dean grassroots. I was all set to roll my eyes on this one, but ultimately you guys rock!

Can I elect the Dean grassroots President?
