Karen McCarthy and Jim Moran: Primary Challenges
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 02:24 PM by mndemocrat_29
Does anyone think that Jamie Metzl, the most prominent candidate considering a run against Rep. Karen McCarthy, will succeed in a race?

(Note-this seat will stay Democratic whether or not it is McCarthy or Metzl. It is the second most Democratic district in Missouri (after MO-1). Gore won 60 percent and Nader won 2 percent. McCarthy won 66 percent last time).

Jim Moran's comments earlier this year have left many Democrats trying to pursue his seat also. St. Sen. Leslie Byrne appears like the best candidate at this point.

(Again, this seat is fairly Democratic, with 57.6 percent of the vote for Gore).

3. Don't believe the spin. Perle spiked her drink,
then Wolfowitz tripped her. ;-)

8. Is she receiving treatment?
If so what kind? I would have a very difficult time voting for an active alcoholic for that kind of job. I might depending on what the alternative were but this would not be my idea of a good thing.

6. I hope McCarthy wins
she's a good Democrat. I think she'll win though. Moran's comments didn't bother me too much, but I've been told there's been evidence of a lot of corruption with him, and that he may be a wife beater, so if that's true he should go.

7. I used to live in DC
Moran's record in Congress has been lackluster and the man has had a long history of ethical problems.

10. Didn't he get into a shoving match with Duke Cunningham (R-CA)?
Cunningham deserves it, but still....

11. Cunningham vs. Moran
Yep, he pushed the guy who took over Robert Dornan's status as biggest homophobe. I was unfortunate enough to live in his district for the last 10 years. I wish that a dem could beat him, but that's probably not possible in a district populated mostly by military personnel and the filthy rich.

12. I don't have any problems with that
I just know that he's been accused of a lot of ethics problems and of being a wife beater. if that's true then throw him out.
