interesting take by David Yepsen of DM Register on Clark entrance
Retired Gen. Wesley Clark entered the race for the Democratic presidential nomination Wednesday...Yes, Clark is a semi-famous name. But he's not a super-hero ex-general like Dwight Eisenhower was in 1952 or US Grant was after the Civil War in 1868. Clark was the NATO commander who basically won an air war against a small nation with a Third World air force. His most recent claim to fame was his Iraq war work for CNN as one of those reired generals turned active-duty pundit...While he has a great deal of expertise on military and foreign policy matters, the economy is the single most important issue Iowa Democratic caucus-goers want addressed. He has no special profolio on that subject. Nor does he on health care or the environment and farm price supports. "He's good on foreign policy issues, but what I don't se are specifics on domestic issues," said Polk County Democratic chairman Tom Hendeson, who is neutral in the nominating contest. "I don't think he's a complete candidate..."

1. I usually brush Yepsen off as a right wing moron.
However, on this issue I do agree with him.

2. is he right wing?
I always heard he was well respected in the state and that the Register was an Indpendent paper. But, I do think he raises some good points. Not that Clark won't articulate a vision for domestic affairs, but the other candidates at least have a record to point to. Too early to say for sure.

3. Yepsen's a big fan of Bush.
Nor is the Des Moines Register an independent paper. It's merely one of many in the Gannett chain, USAToday without the four-color graphs.

4. Yepsen = mouthpiece for the Iowa GOP
Yes, he is a right wing baffoon. Another repub scares crapless by the General. On the ground in Iowa Clark has a lot of support. His Des Moines meetup was overflowing with supporters (including repubs) and had to be moved to a larger venue. There is plenty of time to connect here in Iowa, regardless of what Yepsen says.

I am still torn between Edwards and Clark, but definitely leaning to Clark at this point.

6. It takes a lot of courage for a general to stand up to Bush.

If Bush steals another election, Wesley Clark might be able to get the military to fix the problem.
