From Kerry blog...from JFK's event last night at UCLA posted by cindyw..
Just checking in. SAW KERRY LAST NIGHT!!!! My husband and I went to the UCLA event and wow!. I know why I liked him now. Whoever said that Kerry and his supporters do not have passion were crazy. He had a great balance of attacking Bush's failed record and proposing solutions.

1. I really liked the new way he is explaining his solution to Bush's tax cuts. He pointed out that the reason we should not get rid of that whole tax cut was that not all of the tax cut was Bush's. He said that the marriage penalty, the new 10% tax rate and the child tax credit for all were hard fought democratic wins. That new way of explaining works much better in my opinion. It allowed him to take on Dean without attacking the man (say it to my face stuff) and take him on with the issues.

2. Biggest applause to idea, was definitely the focus on education. The first was after school care for kids. It seems to me that this idea is the solution to so many problems. parents can know their kids are cared for until they get off work, more kids will get involved in extracurricular activities, less risk for kids to get involved in dangerous situations (here in california that would be gangs) and possibly extra help for kids who need tutoring. The second was returning the arts, music and science to the classroom. We all know the impact it has on kids minds to diversify their education and the confidence building that science can give kids.

So, I had a chance to shake the Senators hand and then my husband asked Kerry if he was feeling daunted by all that he will have to do to return this country to where ti needs to be and Kerry leaned in, looked him right in the eye and corrected him saying "Work, we have to do". Okay I know that's corny, but it impressed us.

Okay I'm done gushing!

2. I'm glad you had such a great time!
And I'm thrilled for you that you got to talk to your candiate. But please, for those of us who remember Kennedy, there truly is only one JFK who can be known by those initials. I know that Kerry likes to use them because he loved Kennedy too, but would you consider refraining from doing so when referring to him? I think you'd get a better response from those who aren't committed to him. (Yes, I'm for Dean, but I'll vote for Kerry if he gets the nomination.)

4. Most of us use JK out of respect
for others and Kerry does most of the time as well.

7. John F. Kerry = JFK in more ways than initials
The initials "JFK" are Rove’s worst nightmare. Seem to cause Howard Dean some problems as well. Here are a few interesting parallels between John Fitzgerald Kennedy & John Forbes Kerry:

Home State: Massachusetts
Occupation when elected: US Senator
Political Party: Democratic
Party Wing: Liberal (THE Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party)
Foreign Policy: Keep America the Strongest Nation in the World
Domestic Policy: Do What's Best for All Americans
Combat Veteran: US Navy
Actions include: Rescuing Men Under His Command In Combat
John F. Kennedy Decorations include: Purple Heart, Navy & Marine Corps Medal
John F. Kerry Decorations include: Three Purple Hearts, Silver Star, Bronze Star

No wonder Rove soaks his Depends anytime mentions the initials "JFK." Cheney orders a double Dynatab. And you know they won't let the Little Turd from Crawford hear about anything JFK, so he probably doesn't even know what he's in for come the Fall of 2004.

Oh yeh. With all the parallels between the two war heroes, I almost forgot: JFK knew JFK. How's about that?

Kerry, left, sails with President John F. Kennedy
aboard the 62-foot Coast Guard yawl Manitou
in Narragansett Bay on Aug. 26, 1962.

5. Perhaps the reason Repubs don't properly support education
is that they know less-well-educated people tend to vote Republican.

10. True, they're not related, except POLITICALLY — where it matters.
Like JFK, John Kerry is from the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party — a hard-working LIBERAL! That's no matter what you or Dean may say. For details, read my other reply on this post.

John Kerry joined President John F. Kennedy to watch
the September 1962 America's Cup race from the USS Joseph P. Kennedy
off Newport, Rhode Island.

BTW: The ship Kerry and JFK are viewing the America's Cup races from is named after JFK's older brother, Joseph. Considered the Kennedy son who'd be the political standard bearer, Joe Jr. was killed on a secret mission to take out the NAZI U-2 sites along the French coast. GOOGLE his name and Project APHRODITE for details on a heroic DEMOCRAT.

One last thing: Keep kutting my horse down and I'll post links to the controversy surrounding Dean's status with the draft board. Something about a bad back and mogul jumping.
