In Defense of Clark's voting record, from a Dean supporter. |

People can change.
I grew up in an area that voted 97% Republican. I supported Ford in '76, and Reagan in '80 and '84. I grew up believing that the Republican mythical view was reality.
Then in 1986, I read "The Triumph of Politics: Why the Reagan Revolution Failed" by David Stockman, former Reagan budget director. I was shocked to read that these "conservatives" didn't actually believe any of their own rhetoric, and had no interest in fiscal conservatism.
Since the fabric of my reality was now badly torn, it forced me to examine all of my beliefs, and Republican beliefs do not stand up well to close examination.
I had never been a hate filled right-winger, but I had essentially been a zombie as I chanted the Republican belief reinforcement phrases along with the rest of the local crowd.
Take it from me....No one is more opposed to the right-wingers than someone for whom the blinders have come off.
I still say.....Go Dean!, but please don't reject Clark because he once was blind, because now he can see.

Thanks for a very well-considered postion. I am a Clark supporter all the way, because I care about his positions now - and because I see him as the man that can take back the White House for the American people. I still like Dean - and to be honest, I'll vote for any Democrat over the Orwellian nightmare that sits in D.C. right now - but during the runup to the primaries, it's Clark all the way for me.
