For those who don't know:

She was the highest ranking female. Recently retired. BIG endorsement.

1. Only female General
“John Kerry has not only been a friend to the women’s movement, but has been a leader in standing up for women’s rights since the day he stepped onto the floor of the U.S. Senate.”

For those who don't know, Kerry co-sponsored the Domestic Violence legislation that provided funds for shelters and other services. When he was a prosecutor he set up one of the first Rape Prosecution offices in the country. He was an original co-sponsor of the Women's Health Equity Act. He expanded the Women's Small Business Center program across the country. I don't think there's another Senator who has done more for women than Kerry. The General really knows what she's talking about when she says he's been a leader from day one.

2. Thanks for the reminder.
Many here either don't know Kerry or have forgotten the lead he took in so many areas.

3. Right on Claudia!!!!
Kerry is going to start driving this Senate record home now that he has established in most voters minds that he is a Vietnam Vet and a moderate. Look for him to "hammer" his Senate record and get lots of props from the sorts of liberal leaders Dean can only salavate about.

4. His Senate record is extraordinary
and unabashedly progressive. I'm looking forward to those political newbies who now trash him so ignorantly, feel some level of shame when they realize how much he has accomplished in his career.

The article I read at the time, she was the only female General. I'm sure more have been promoted since then.

6. That's the understatement of the night!
"That won't hurt." Hell, with the firefighters' union, RFK Jr., Teddy, Kathleen Turner, Moby, Gen. Claudia, Jeanne Shaheen's hubby in NH, Dianne Feinstein and more I'd say we've got a pretty darn good shot, now wouldn't you?

7. Hahahahahaha! Tell her her friend Tinoire
Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 07:36 PM by Tinoire
is going to send her a well-written letter extolling the virtues of Dennis Kucinich!

We used to work very closely together when she was the Deputy DCSINT (Chief of Staff for Intelligence).

I'm serious guys! She's getting a love note from me ;)

I'll explain to her why cutting the Pentagon budget by 15% is a good thing and remind her of all the waste that went on!

8. she seems like a good person
i read an article on her , but it was a few years ago and i was a teen. but was impressed. especially since she went into a job dominated mostly by men. women like her do a lot of help future generations. but i always said kerry had a good record on women's rights so i can understand why she endorsed him. i agree with you on the pentagon budget though.

9. She was really big on women's rights
Nice lady... A very, very nice lady and a damn good officer.

I think she'd have to agree about the budget to tell you the truth. Everyone who works there knows what kind of waste is going on and what kind of lucrative, hyped up contracts are passed under the tables.

Peace

10. Good...she and Kerry are on the same page, then.
He'll cut the whole mini-nukes program and Star Wars for starters. He is also big on cutting Defense Dept. waste. The RNC site tries to dump him for wanting to cut defense throughout his career. Like that's a bad thing. heh

So, you think she'll end up in the cabinet, Tinoire?

11. Department of Peace you mean?
Sure why not! Lol, just ribbing you ;)

She's certainly competent! If she did, Kerry would be well-served! And I'm sure she'd accept.

17. thats your dream that Kucinich supports
I admit I never thought about that, but what really got me for DK for his support of repealing Taft-Hartley. Sorry Kerry supporters, you have my congrads on this advertisement from what my friend Tiniore says here she sounds like a good lady. I also enjoyed reading that Kerry has supported cutting from Defense. I am just saying :).

Same talking points almost exactly. Cut this program, opposed that program, etc. With Mike riding around in that tank...

20. Shes told me a little
She told me she lived near where I do now like 30 miles. Really is one of the people who really helped expand my support for DK, I thank her the most after DK himself. She got me that DK package with all that stuff and it was hers, what a nice act. My one button kinda broke though. Still.
