President Dean...
Talked about President Kennedy standing down the generals during the Cuban Missile Crisis and said, “Sometimes it takes more courage and judgment to stand up for peace.”

“I think defense is more important than tax cuts, Mr. President.”

He said that he doesn’t like the leader of North Korea either, but condemned this administration’s schoolyard foreign policy that sacrifices our safety because the president doesn’t feel like talking to people he doesn’t like.

“I don’t think this president understands defense.”

“I will restore the honor and dignity and respect that this country deserves around the world.”

“We want someone to stand up to the Saudis and invest in renewable energy.”

“We’re going to win because of you.”

1. Restoring a sense of sanity and respect to foreign policy seems to be
an enormous concern of Dean's. Thank goodness.

2. I love the sound of that
There was an article in Philadelphia Daily News a few months ago that was headline "President Dean - Got a Problem with that?" and just the title gave me the warm fuzzies.

3. Right now I'm divided,
I've thought about both Dean and Clark as my choice. On the one hand I think Clark is a little too establishment for me, on the other hand I think that Dean is being written off by people really quickly, because of this damn branding that gets done so quickly early in the campaign. Finally I have no real idea who the front runner is anyways because the elimination of primaries throughout America makes it almost impossible to know who has the likely edge to be the nominee. . .

. . . In conclusion I guess what I'm saying is I absolutely detest Bush and hope our nominee has the guts to knock him flat on his ass.

5. People only discount him because they fail to see the "base" changed
The pundits are used to liberal activists being the only ones really interested in Democratic Primaries so early. Because of this, they are assuming that this is who Dean has got all fired up. The fact is, Dean is firing up all kinds of people. Yes, some of the typical liberal activists, but also people who usually only vote in the general election, people who have been so disillusioned they stopped voting and a lot of people who have never even voted before. All these people who support Dean are going to be voting in the primaries. This new "base" looks no different than those who vote in the general election. Everyone who understands how the "base" has changed views Dean as not only being electable, but also the one with the best chance to defeat Bush. I really think Clark is going to end up being Dean's VP, too...so you are likely to get both of your favorites on one ticket! Oh, and they will win, too. ;)

7. I'm glad to see you point this out. I've noticed it,
but I haven't seen too many other people who are willing to point it out.

9. As usual the pundits are about a day late and the proverbial
Dollar short!

It's like they don't research their subjects or something!

10. The repubs who are currently jumping ship (Bush's diving polls) are
headed to Dean as the repubs migrated to and voted for Dean in Dean's Vermont races...now this phenomenon goes national!!!

6. President Dean, President Clark, anything but President Bush!
I like Bill Clinton's message the other day: "Go ahead, fall in love, be for somebody. But when the primary's over, let's fall in line and bring the White House back to our party."

I am firmly in Clark's camp, I've been hoping he'd get in to the race for months now. However, I hate to see people write off Dean early, or Kerry, or heck, even Edwards for that matter. As long as the Democrats put themselves forward in a positive way, remembering that we have a bush to beat in '04, let's keep the debate lively!

Of course, I'm convinced that General Clark is just the man to knock bush flat on his keister...

8. It's a great line,
and a great sentiment. He should keep using it and make it his own.

11. I'm a big time Dean supporter
but I can't help but thinking your thread title of President Dean is more than a little presumptuous.
