Anyone here for Senator Graham???
He's been a governor (executive psition) and is now a Senator. He was in a position to vote on the Iraq war resolution, which he voted against. And, he is also a member of the intelligence committe in the Senate.

At the moment, I really like Dean, Kucinich and Clark. It seems to me that Sen Graham combines qualities of all three into a cohesive package. He has the anti-Iraq war stance of all three candidates, unlike Dean and Clark and like Kucinich, he was in a position to vote on and voted against the Iraq war resolution. And like Clark, he has some national security credentials vis a vis his intelligence committee experience.

I havent heard too much about Graham, but as in previous dem primaries against a Republican incumbant, I wouldnt be surprised to see a little known or heard person sweep up and capture the nomination.

This is the first time that the new primary schedule is implemented so thats a bit of a wild card.

Any thoughts from anyone else on Graham???

1. Me
My Senator is the "complete package", and about the most honorable man I have ever observed in politics.

13. Respect Bob Graham
He has my respect, but his best hope would be VP. I think he should quit and hang on to his Sen. seat. He would make an excellent President if he could somehow get the job.

2. I really like Senator Graham and am disappointed he isn't doing better
No doubt the conventional wisdom is that he doesn't have enough "sex appeal" to be on the top of the ticket in TV NATION.

All of the reasons you listed combined with his service on the Senate Intelligence Committee are why I like him.

I also found it curious that he was ON the Senate Intel Committee and voted the war resolution down.

3. glad to hear from you
Yes, his sex appeal isnt all there. Do you think its too late for Graham???

The primaries are still some time away, but the momentum generated by some of the other candidates, Dean in particular, makes it seem at time to me that he has little chance. Nevertheless, Clinton was also an unknown. But the primary structure now is a bit different, so it might be harder for an underdog to emerge.

What about Graham as VP?

I just came to learn of Graham not that long ago, and find him the perfect candidate on all the positions and issues that matter to me. I think he's better than Dean, Clark and Kucinich even in many ways. He's got the experience and the voting record. The others lack one or the other.

6. I respect Graham a great deal
and have also been disappointed at how ignored he has been.

He is more moderate than I, but was a good Governor in Florida, and has been a good senator.

He is also a policy minded leader. I miss having a leader who understood that positions on issues were more than 'good feelings' or ideology - but required thinking about what those positions meant in terms of policy (implementation) and that there are almost always unintended consequences of policy - and thus one has to flesh it out and see the unintended consequences.

His no vote on the war was not about Iraq, per se. Indeed he said (which took me a bit aback) he thought in some ways the president should have more strongly worded authority in terms of actions to take against a terrorist threat.

His no vote was about the unintended consequences - weakening by depleting resources and focus on the war on terror, the actions in Afghanistan (remember we were going to rebuild - we haven't) to strenghten the new government and the budding democracy and thwart the reemergence of war lordism and or the taliban, and the international efforts (legal) at identifying and arresting members of the al queada organization involved in terrorist activities.

That is a policy minded rationale. I like Graham alot.

4. He's got a GREAT blog, you guys!
There is some great discussion going on over there. He writes on it fairly frequently as well.

Yep, he is BY FAR the most qualified and experienced candidate of this field. And his reputation is clean, which is an oddity in politics. People REALLY need to cut through all the hype around some of the others long enough to examine Senator Graham.

In all seriousness, the others pale in comparison.

9. Graham was my first choice
I'm just really bummed that his campaign hasn't taken off

I have to be realistic--he won't win the nomination. I would like for him to pull out and put his resources into running for re-election. I would love to see him in the White House, but it's not going to happen. I want him to run for re-election, although he has said several times that he won't.

Right now, I'm strongly leaning towards supporting Clark. I want to see the Senator support him.

If Graham doesn't run for re-election, I hope that he will have a role in a Clark administration. He would make a great National Security Advisor or even Secretary of State or Defense.

11. I think Graham would make an excellent Pres.
I really wish he was doing better in the polls. However, in this day and age campaign packaging (the right slogans, etc) seems to be more important than the substance of a candidate.

Plus, why would the corporate media want to give him tons of free press (if he was our candidate, he would beat Bush).

12. I'm a Dean supporter, but...
... I could support Sen. Graham with a smile on my lips and a song in my heart, if he became the nominee. Another quality he has that no one seems to have mentioned is the much ballyhoo-ed "gravitas". I wish him well. :)

14. Love Graham
Bob Graham is an american hero for what he did with the 9/11 report and for being the first to really come out and expose the Bush pattern of deception.

Graham is totally awesome, and is still going to win this thing. We're 4 months away from the first caucus or primary. Once Graham gets on TV, things will change.

15. he is my second choice for the nomination
I like him and think he has done a great job jabbing Bush on national security issues. If he doesn't get the nomination itself, I think I favor him for vp.
