Gallup Poll shows Clark and Kerry narrowly ahead of Bush

2. Did other Clark people expect this?

I didn't. I thought he was going to be long-shot in all areas (money, infrastructure, etc.). I mean, let's be honest, most people don't even know his platform (although they probably would be correct in assuming that it's the same Democratic platform that all candidates support...give or take some specifics). I just saw his announcement speech and I guess he's better than I thought at public speaking. If he connects with people, it won't matter what reporters think of him (they're bored so they spend all their time analyzing the Dem field when they should be focusing on what a crappy job the current admin. is doing).

I hope he keeps up the energy that's getting people going (Dean and everybody else too). If we get people to turn out in the primary they'll be much more likely to vote in the general.

9. The Election Is Hardly A Lock

This is how the Dems fare without a single shot having been fired by Rove. Part of what we have to consider is whether or not a given candidate can weather the storm on the horizon.

We need someone that will be able to stand up to the GOP attack machine going full tilt with $200,000,000-$250,000,000 worth of TV ads, plus a permanent bully pulpit.
