Clark Being Kept Off Talk Shows For Anger Management?
Where’s Wesley?

Democratic presidential candidate Gen. Wesley Clark was conspicuous by his absence on last Sunday’s talk shows. It’s almost routine for anyone entering the White House race to be booked instantly for grilling.

But the word is that Clark’s advisers, one of whom is the political operative formerly known as President Bill Clinton, have decided to carefully limit his media availability.

They remember how “Meet the Press” host Tim Russert unsettled former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean a few months ago, and didn’t want the same thing to happen to their man.

Clark, like Dean, is said to have an anger management problem, and apparently needs more basic training on keeping his cool during hostile interviews.

I hope this is not true, because it looks pretty lousy from where I'm sitting. At least he's going to the debates, though.

he handled Hannity just fine (and more than once). And he's been on TV on a regular basis since the war began

Have a feeling the Corporate bosses don't want him on

2. The Hill
reported this? Wow. I'm surprised.

How about the possibility that the man is assembling a campaign team and preparing for the first political debate of his life? Seems a good enough reason not to take time out for Tim Russert.

4. My guess is that he's prepping for the debate.
And developing solid stances on most of the major issues.

5. Oh Jesus....
The man has been a candidate for less than a week, he has been called a Republican plant, a DLC plant, a Clinton plant, the man who nearly started WWIII and now he has an "anger management" problem.

Listen carefully: This guy has spent hundreds of hours on Television, sometimes for twelve hours at a time during the Iraq war. I never once saw him lose his cool.

Is it just possible that his political people want to prepare him for likely questions he will get (like ANY candidate is prepared?}

Or is it possible that the Bushies were all over the Sunday talk shows talking up their big day at the UN?

6. That's What I Thought
I seem to remember him as pretty calm and collected, but then again, he was being treated as an expert, not being grilled on every little gotcha! detail.

I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. That anger management thing was overblown for Dean; I also remember Clark always being calm and unflustered during the NATO briefings. He'll be on those shows when he's ready.

8. I'm Not So Sure With Dean
He kinda flipped on Stephanapoulus(?), which is pretty impressive considering he is pretty softball. And if you've ever seen this (fairly hilarious) GOP video, you can get a glimpse of what the TV ads would be in the general election against Dean. I'm sure they've got plenty of footage like this:

30. That's Actually a Pretty Scary Ad
I could see it playing well in certain places.

Bush is going to have the biggest war chest in history to push his BS. We need the strongest possible candidate to make sure it's not close enough to buy or steal.

in that it was Clark's calm but determined manner when attacked on the issues that first made me notice him. He has been attacked by the worst of them on camera and has calmly and politely raked them over the coals. The guy is great with the likes of Hannity, Buchanan, O'Reilly, etc.

14. Caring for others and simply not for one self and cronies
when you know they are bring shafted tends to evoke anger. Bush is heartlesss and feels nothing for anyone but self and cronies who also are heartless and unfeeling.

15. I'm Trying To Get A Feel For Clark
It's hard, because I like to study the candidates' policy agendas, and I don't have much to work with here. Clark is a real X factor for me, and I'm trying to figure out what his deal is.

I had some impressions about him before he announced that have been turned on their head, and I'm trying to determine how this is all going to affect the race in general. Believe me, I would rather be discussing his health care plan.

..if I had to answer the idiotic questions spewed by the likes of Russert, Tweety and the rest of the infotainment talking head media whores.

It only shows he is an intellegent man and doesn't suffer fools gladly.

20. I don't believe a word of it
I've watched almost all his tv appearances. It's so impressive how skillfully he handles Hannity who always tries to tie people up in knots. With just a few words spoken sincerely, he makes Hannity look like a kid wearing a beanie with a propeller.

Anyone who can accomplish that does not have an anger management problem. This is just another meme and I don't buy it. Don't you remember when Dukakis was "scary" and McCain had a "temper"? Memes - nothing but empty memes.

22. This makes no sense. He's been on most of them .
Clark's been on most of the talk shows already. My personal belief is that he timed his appearences for an original announcement date around Labor Day, and that's why the thing was done in reverse, in a way.

Why this makes no sense is that Clark has been a pretty regular face on talk shows for the last few months, and it could just be that he's run out of talk shows to go on for the time being. He's done Russert. He's done Meet the Press. He's done This Week. He's handled a few Faux assaults, including Hannity and Colmes. He's done a few NPR shows. He's done Hardball. He's done Scarface's Country. He's done a good number of shows on CNN.

He's even done Bill Maher's HBO show.

This is a weak, weak rumor without supporting evidence.

28. I was defending Clark
I was defending a fellow brother who has a CIB and a Silver Star, just like mine. He was a grunt, 35 years ago, just like me. I want him in the White House.

If you think about it long enough, you didn't answer my question. Have you ever been under fire?

"Clark, like Dean, is said to have an anger management problem"..

Is said to?

Who said that?

No quotes here only qualified editorial comment. The purpose here is to plant a seed and unfortunately a few idiotic Dems will water it.

25. Tim Russert does not sanction political debate
in America. Mr. Russert would have you think that Meet the Press is about meeting the press. It is not. It is only about dealing with a trivia master and a spinner of the first rank. I am sure Clark considers a weasel like Russert a waste of time.
