Dean-Clark or Clark-Dean? |
|
Which way should it be? I tend to think it shoudl be Dean president and Clark VP. i'm not a huge fan of Clark yet, but he's looking pretty popular right now. His numbers will most likely taper off, but no ticket will get elected without a southern candidate. So it's important to have someone like him running. But is his ego too big to run as a VP?

Haven't investigated the polling aspect of this new(ish) DU site. If you know how, have at it!

As much as I like Clark, I don't think he has the political experience to be president. Dean's dealt with a legislature, got budgets passed, created health insurance programs, restored equity in education funding between rich and poor neighborhoods (never a popular issue with middle-class voters), payed down the debt, etc. Clark's fought wars, but he hasn't had to do any of those things. After 8 years of being vice president, I think he'd be a perfect presidential candidate and I'd vote for him as many times as Boston politics can manage.

I lean toward Dean/Clark- just so the whole country will get a chance to see Clark and Cheney head-to-head at the debate. Who could possibly vote republican after that?

8. Dean is a dumb choice for vice president. |
|
One gets all of his baggage and none of his strengths. Dean is DaMan because his exceptional ability to inspire and organize support and fundraise.
Without it, there is nothing to balance out being from a puny state, the civil unions bill, and his controversial Iraq stance.

11. I don't think either will happen |

Both Clark and Dean would be "outsiders" in Washington. Because of that, they do not know the inner workings of the town and Congress. So they both need someone who could push their agenda through a, with all odds, hostel (read repug) Congress. This means they will need an insider on the ticket with them. I also base this on history; Regan did it in 1980, Clinton did it in 1992 and Bush did it in 2000.
Also, most VP picks are not primary opponents. The last time this happen was 1980. Prior to that it was 1960.
With all odds, if Dean or Clark wins the nomination, the other one will not be on the ballot with them.
