Howards Waffle House:
DAILY SPECIAL—Order Taxes, Get it Two Entirely Different Ways!

Repealing the rate cuts for the top tax bracket would have provided enough money to pay for his plan to provide universal health care, pay for special education programs, and begin reducing the federal deficit, said. But Dean publicly changed his position Wednesday when he released the following statement in response to Bush's signing of a new $350 billion tax-cut package: ‘We must repeal the entire package of cuts -both those signed today and those passed in 2001.’ Dean explained Friday the change was due in part to the fact that a more modest rollback would fail to pay for health care, special education and deficit reduction.”

GRAND SLAM! If You Can’t Decide, Order them ALL! - Dean Had Three Different Tax Positions in One Interview:
First: “In remarks after a plant tour of Harvey Industries in Manchester, Dean said he would repeal ‘some’ of the Bush tax cuts in contrast to his longstanding call to get rid of all $3 trillion in congressionally approved tax relief.”
Second: “Afterward, Dean told reporters he had misspoken and fully intends if elected to give the American people the choice between retaining the tax cuts or approving his proposal to give children and low-income adults health insurance coverage.”
Third: “’We’re going to have a program for tax fairness for the middle class,’’’ Dean said while declining to provide specifics. …’Tax cuts to individuals do not stimulate the economy,’ he said. ”

6. Dean is basically
doing the samew, and spent month was doing it.All of the Bush-Lite stuff was NOT directed at Republicans, but other candidates, and his criticisms of the October Resolution based on his personal opinion, and had no legal basis whatsoever. His waffling now is just as deserving of being brought to the public attention as his comments about Iraq and his Bush-Lite Labelingof other candiidates, and Kerry and Gepharts criticisims of Dean have more substance in FACT, than Deans criticisms did. But the Dean was well known in Vermont, by those politically in the know, as keeping his relationship to facts rather casual, adn fo being loose with the truth:

my favorite refernce to this is an editorial from the Burlington Free Press:

Although sometimes loose with the truth, Dean's attack strategy seems to have paid off. He has put his opponents on the defensive and has drawn considerable attention from political commentators and Democratic contributors. Polls show him neck and neck with Kerry in the critical New Hampshire primary and closing in on the favored Gephardt in the Iowa caucuses...

As Dean becomes a top-tier candidate, however, his casual approach to facts and abusive tactics against his opponents could get him into serious trouble -- and severely damage Vermont's reputation for political civility and intellectual honesty.

So Dean spewing his opinions for months is O.K. but Deans continual flipping of stances is NOT fair game...

Hardly. Alls fair in politics, and If Dean didnt expect to be slammed, he should have been politer last year.

9. "Bushlite"..."voted for Bush's taxcut"..."Deanlite"
Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 12:07 PM by blm
"liberals like Marian Wright Edelman"..."I have problems with the liberal wing of my own party"

And of course my favorite Dean attacks on Kerry were when Kerry was recovering from cancer surgery and off the campaign trail. But, that didn't stop the "good doctor" from adding to the stress with his continuing attacks.

5. Paul Krugman favors repealing ALL of Bush's tax cuts
and even that is not enough to salvage the budget. And Krugman has unofficially endorsed Dean.

Repealing all of Bush's tax cuts will not be enough to stop the bleeding budget, so its either tax increases or getting the economy going to increase revenues or a combination of both.

12. In the Guardian article a few days ago
Krugman said that he was not allowed to endorse a candidate, but if he could Paul said that there is a certain Democratic candidate who has as his motto "I want my country back" and Krugman said that that is about right.

8. He has not. He only used that line about taking back the country
and gave nods to Dean for currently using it, even though past candidates have used that same line.
