Kerry fundraising at 700 000K and rising daily
I recall it only started a few weeks ago. Dean used an entire summer to raise a million. Those who say that Kerry can't open the wallets of his supporters is dead wrong. In a few days, he will reach that million dollar goal and bump his treasury up a notch or two.

2. You should amend your post.
Dean raised far more than a million over the summer. Dean's bat only went up last week. You may be getting your fundraising quarters mixed up, but, noone raises more money than Dean on the internet.

Maybe Pat Robertson. ;)

6. I would be shocked
if Dean raised $20 million. $15 he might do, but $20 would be, at least for me, a shocker. It all depends on the direct mail success. Still, if he does it, it's quite a statement.

In the meantime, the number that we should really keep our eye on is the cash on hand number. I expect the delta between Kerry and Dean will be reasonably close.... Maybe Dean at $18 or $19 million, Kerry at closer to $13-4 mm. It's a definite advantage, but I think the true defining advantage will be the delta between their 4th quarter fundraising figures.

I am also interested to see what the Burn for the campaigns are. I think the big intrique (and an obvious reason Dean held his big rally in Boston media market/next to NH) is whether Dean will blow the spending caps. If he doesn't, and he has already put money into media in Iowa and New Hampshire, his spending as the primaries actually arrive could be constricted.

From my calculation (assuming that 50% of his funds qualify for federal match)Dean would need to raise 10 or so in the final quarter.

9. Kerry at $13-14M?
That would be more shocking than Dean reaching $20M. And would be terrific news for him. I foresee Dean at $16-18M and Kerry at $8-10M. We'll know in a couple of days.

5. Sleepless Summer Tour was not an all-summer gig
It wasn't over the whole summer, it was 4 or 5 days that he raised one million smackers. Sheesh, do some research so ya don't come off as a doofus next time. Don't be surprised if Dean reaches his goal of $5M in 10 days. Dean supporters won't be surprised, since the campaign hasn't missed a goal yet.

7. 700 000K?? Have you got a couple extra zeros in there?
I'm quite sure he hasn't raised 700M

8. I think it's great
that JK is raising money over the internet, but as others have pointed out, Dean has raised far more in much less time.

10. Sorry for the mistakes
I accidently added that K. Of course I don't mean 700 million. Dean raised it in 4 to 5 days? Good for him.

11. huh?
Which summer are you talking about? Summer is usually considered from Memorial Day to Labor day. Offically it is from June 23 to Sept 22. Dean had raised over 7 million in the quarter ending June 30th and has raised over 12 milllion in this one. By any reasonable standard that isn't "taking a summer to raise a million".

12. Yes, I'm sorry
That was just an off-the-cuff statement that I regret. I just remembered this instance on DU where Dean supporters were counting towards the million dollar mark in the Sleepless Summer Tour and assumed it was an all summer thing.
