If Democrats Do Not Come Out And Vote..Trouble! |
|
The election for President is still a year away but Democrats must become mobilized long before that time. Democrats became lazy after 40 years of power, so the Republicans grabbed the reins and they have been in power nearly ten years now(Congress). If a simple majority of Hispanics, Blacks, Asians and free-thinking whites vote, then Bush is gone in 04. Getting the vote out is a tremendous job. Why people don't vote is a strange mystery to me. It directly affects their standard of living, as to whom holds the power to fund Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid etc. Everyone I meet, I ask if they are registered to vote. Democrats are going to have to get with the program!

4. I now carry voter registration forms with me |
|
I picked up a pile of voter registration forms at the library and asked family and friends if they were registered, and if not, I give them a prestamped form. I now ask and give the forms to anyone I meet. I will keep this up till Bush and his evil gang are gone.

And I even convinced my daughter's boyfriend that he should do it too. He had an 'incident' when he was a teen-ager and can't vote. He thought he didn't have a voice. I convinced him that the fact that he can't vote is a great reason to compel others to vote and that supporting a candidate or the Democratic Party, or fighting for particular legislation, was something he could still do. I don't think he'd thought of that before and he's pretty excited about being able to participate in the process after all.

9. I've heard several people say that ... |
|
... Dean appeals to the heart but not the head. Even if that's true, it's going to take a candidate with heart to bring out the masses. Appealing to the intellect of the masses will result in having them sit in front of the TV watching sitcom reruns instead of going to the polls on election day.
Just ask Madison Avenue how many six packs of beer they will sell by appealing to the intellect of the consumer. We need a candidate with fire and passion to get people excited, and that is why Dean is the most electable of the bunch. He connects with real people, and the intellectuals never have and never will. And frankly, that's really a pity because the more intellectual candidates have a lot to offer, but like it or not, those are the rules we play by.
