Senator Kerry delivers remarks at the Brookings Institution on the future of American operations in Iraq this afternoon.

He also holds a conference call to announce, ABC News' Ed O'Keefe has learned, former Senator Gary Hart's endorsement, which will also be Webcast this afternoon. He will attend a fundraiser tonight at Regional Food & Drink in D.C. along with Senator Kennedy and more than a dozen House members.

Congratulations. They go back a long ways to the McGovern campaign on '72 (which of course Hart was the campaign manager for and Kerry was a supporter). I hope Hart runs for the Senate in Colorado.

2. Yeehaw! I'm glad it's formalized.

Hart will be a great representative for Kerry on the news networks. No one understands the security needs of this nation and the world better than Hart. That's why Clinton tapped him to head the antiterror commission that led to the pre9-11 Hart-Rudman report.

He knows ALL the weaknesses of the other candidates in this area, too.

Add this to the firefighters/first responders who trust Kerry and this is a great, GREAT endorsement that will HAMMER the view that the GOP can be trusted on defense and security. This should also bring alot of the 9-11 families to Kerry's camp.
