Musgrove holds slim lead over Barbour in latest poll
By Ana Radelat
Special to The Clarion-Ledger

<snip>

The latest poll released Friday shows Musgrove has a slight lead over Barbour. The poll commissioned by WAPT-Channel 16 of Jackson showed 42 percent of the respondents said they'd vote for Musgrove and 41 percent said they'd vote for Barbour. Most of the rest were undecided. The poll of 773 registered voters statewide this week had a 3.5 percent point margin of error.

Two separate polls commissioned by The Clarion-Ledger and The Associated Press and WLBT-Channel 3, however, showed Barbour was narrowly leading Musgrove.

The WLBT poll of 625 likely voters was conducted Monday through Wednesday. The Clarion-Ledger/Associated Press poll of 623 likely voters was conducted Oct. 21-23.

1. I guess that's good
but it's within the margin of error, though it at least suggests that Barbour is not pulling away. It's all going to hinge on black turnout, as I think Musgrove can pull about 25% of the white vote.

3. The high percentage of undecided votes makes this a tossup..
Musgrove clearly has name recognition on his side, and Barbour has being a neo-con nut on his side...I assume in Mississippi that is considered pro-american.

But what about the Governor's race in Lousiana, is Blanco ahead and is John Breaux really going to retire if she loses?

4. I really hope he pulls it off.
The rethugs are running a nakedly racist campaign complete with all its symbols. They ought to be ashamed if they had any shame.
