7. It is that type of shallow thinking that creates the vitriol here
You know what Dean was saying, but since you seem to think it benefits your point of view to paint Dean as a supporter of the Confederate flag, you decide to push that bit of nonsense.

2. Geez, must be all those Confederate flag flyers
donating to Dean //sarcasm off...

Seriously, this is good news, and shows that the others are just desperate and attacking whatever they can find.

Dean made these comments many months ago, and nothing. But now, it's dog-pile time.

Well, good for them. Dean takes it and only gets better and stronger and more on message. Good practice for the Repugs come election time, while the other can go back to their Rose-Garden appearances and voting for wars.

4. I Took Him To Task Many Months Ago For This
Just like I did for promising to QUADRUPLE the military aid to Israel - unconditionally.

Things just come out of his mouth without much forethought of the consequences.

32. No, Dean Got the Best
One of Zogby's polls had Dean polling one point higher against Bush than any other Democrat. Within the margin of error, of course.

The polls have been all over on this question, and within the margin of error.

Of course, I regularly remind folks that Dukakis polled 17 points higher than George H.W. Bush three months before the 1988 election, so if they put any stock in polls 12 months out they're fools, to put it bluntly.

27. Pilots for Dean is cool!
My husband (the aspiring pilot) just donated $31.00 toward your goal. I'm sure he'd rather spend the money on lessons, but Pilots for Dean is such a cool website.

Good luck!

30. Thanks!
Think of it this way: $31 is about 10 gallons of aviation fuel at most airports.

If your husband needs any words of encouragement as he learns how to fly, please ask him to drop me an e-mail. Cheers.

31. I Love Controllers!
Air traffic controllers are awesome. Terrific bunch of people -- and highly professional. Thanks for doing what you do.

I've got lots of coverage of ATC privatization right now at Pilots for Dean. The Bush Administration is pushing for privatization of more air traffic control towers, and Democrats, thankfully, are blocking that effort. Pilots and their associations, including the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, are fully in support of NATCA and the air traffic controllers in opposing privatization. Air traffic control has no business in the hands of the lowest bidder. It's a fundamental safety (and now security) service, and it's a government responsibility, one that's funded by aviation fuel taxes.

Pilots are particularly concerned that Bush will try to install a fee-for-service privatization plan. We're quite fearful of that possibility, because it would mean charging for safety services. If you charge money for something that contributes to safety, people will think about dollars instead. Sure, we'll pay for the services: through aviation fuel taxes.

33. You have a great site...
...and I'm always happy to hear that we're doing a good job. Most of us really DO care what the users think and we work hard to provide the best service we can.

I'm going to be pitching to NATCA a series of PSA's stating that the FDA is going to be privatized and administered by a board consisting of the CEO's of major drug companies. The ad would go on to state that "Of COURSE safety would never be compromised", because these CEO's obviously have the good of the consumer, and not profits, as their first priority. The PSA would go on to state that the FDA was not, in fact, going to be run by drug companies, but that the government was trying to create the same situation with the nation's air traffic control system by allowing it to be privatized and run by a board consisting of the CEO's of major airlines.

Privatization has been a nightmare in every country in which it's been tried. I'm very happy to see pilots behind us on this.

29. I don't think that way
I think most of the criticisms of Dean have been fair, and have served the purpose of the primary by forcing Dean to clarify his positions.

This educational aspect is very important, much more important than the sports team mentality that this kind of post represents, the taunting and the trash talking.

I don't begrudge Dean's successes,it's just that a lot of his opponents' criticisms have hit home with me.
