ATTN Florida Gore Die-Hards: Please Take Action on the Dec. 6 Straw Poll
A message from Draft Gore:

---------------------------------
FLORIDA STRAW POLL

Help us persuade the Florida Democratic Party to include Gore's name in its Dec. 6 straw poll. This may be the single most important thing we will ever ask you to do -- especially if you're a Florida resident (but all of you can help). If we succeed, this event could light a fire that could get Al Gore elected president.

This straw poll could set the tone for the entire 2004 primary campaign. Unlike state ballots, which have complicated requirements for including a candidate's name, the straw poll is informal. The party makes the decision, and if Gore is in, he'll win. But party leaders need to come under pressure from the grassroots. Please write, call, fax or email the Florida Democratic Party TODAY and ask that Al Gore's name be included on the December straw poll ballot:

1. Excellent idea. I don't know as they'll do it.
Al Gore was a good candidate and a lot of people felt he was pressured out of running. I bet he would do extremely well if he were included.

3. That is, if they have it.
You do know the DNC was trying to get them to cancel it? They were telling the candidates one thing, and not being totally honest. There were several threads about it.

You ask why don't they want Florida to have the straw vote? I can only speculate. I asked the Florida party if they realized that Dean has a whole lot of organized groups in Florida.

The answer was oh yeah, we know.

I love Gore, but he does not need to step in now. Neither does Hilary, neither does anyone else with those names. It is too soon, there is too much hurt.

The right wing radio around here still spews hatred of Clinton. There needs to be distance for now.

6. The DNC says it doesn't want candidates "wasting money"
on the Florida straw poll and is pushing them hard not to participate. This seems ridiculous to me. Money spent and face time in Florida is what I like to call "a good thing, not a bad thing." I think the real fear might be that some candidate the DNC isn't fond of (like Dean?) would get a push from the straw poll.

The decision will be made mid-November as to whether to have it, but I think it's going to happen.

This sort of squabbling makes me angry and is worse than a waste of time; it makes the Democrats look bad... in FLORIDA.

7. Not sure what you mean by making Florida look bad....makes DNC look bad.
In my opinion, at least. They are manipulating the candidates and the state of Florida and the will of the people.

They can not even have someone who will answer phones at the DNC with answers to issues. They just don't answer issues.

I don't think this makes Florida look bad. Makes the DNC look bad for manipulating.

8. I said it makes the Democrats look bad, not Florida.
I think you're right that the DNC is at fault here and not the Florida democratic party.

Nonetheless, many independant voters don't differentiate between the state and national levels of the party like we might. They just see the disunity and squabbling.
