Dean Leads in Columbus, Ohio Poll

Today's Columbus Dispatch reports on a poll of the 62nd Ward, a statistical "bellweather" ward for Columbus, Ohio, and the nation. (Columbus Dispatch newspaper subscribers get free access, and others pay.) Here are the results.

"Should Bush be re-elected?"

51% Yes
49% No

"Is the country on the right track or wrong track?"

53% Wrong Track
47% Right Track

Registered Democrats: "Who is your first choice as the Democratic presidential candidate?"

22% Howard Dean
18% Wesley Clark
17% Dick Gephardt
14% Joe Lieberman
12% John Kerry
5% Dennis Kucinich

None of the Democratic candidates have spent much time or effort in Ohio since it is not an early primary, so these are encouraging results indeed.

I stay the hell away from Columbus. And the Dispatch is another right wing rag, not worth the paper it's printed on.

6. Nope, just seems that way

There is no logically reason why Ohio shouldn't be considered a swing state. The suburbs are rather conservative, but Columbus has a Dem. mayor and all seven city council members are Dems. Like so many other places, the real key will be to get people within the city limits registered and convince them to vote.

You are right about the Columbus Dispatch. It's simply awful.
