One person makes a difference (please look at)
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 03:13 PM by JohnKleeb
I am a big Kucinich supporter obviously and damn proud of it. I am not gonna discuss issues really here but I would like to talk about the power of grassroots. Just now my dad who was a self described apathenic voter but now is a big DK supporter like me, he credits me to bringing him back involved and is impressed with Kucinich. What happened was, that he just prepared 15 envelopes to family and friends about DK. For all the bad that happens, I believe there is acts of good as well. DK may or may not win this primary but his vision has inspired me and others. I thank Dennis Kucinich for this. Whether you support him or not, this is just great. His book is doing well, I am happy to learn, I am always happy to support him. I truly am. This is for liberation of America no matter who the nominee is guys :toast:, we will be rid of Bush in a year about.
:toast: to the causes worth fighting for and to our country

1. Oh trust me I know one person can make a difference
Over the last yaer or so I have learned that lesson, very well

I have, and when this over, I know I will make yet another difference
by writing a history of this, as detailed as I can, for my kids to
read, at the very least

2. You gotta look at history imo
History is my inspiration and the future. For all the bad that Ive heard about in my nation these past 2-3 years I know well theres been acts of courage, those who said no to the war, those who were willing to give their lives on 9/11, and those who just did their jobs but were sacrifacing none the less.

14. That's how I see it, too, JohnKleeb.
I wish more people understood this race and the candidates in the context of history.

15. Yeah
I meant history in an overall sense though but I agree with your point on that.

4. Margaret Mead
Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Indeed, it IS the only thing that ever has. Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Ghandi, the student at Tiennamen Square; and in this century we are blessed with Arundhati Roy, Bev Harris, and many many others who expose lies with the truth and fight for liberation from the OILigarchy. ONE person makes a difference: as John Kleeb and many others have testified; and my hat is off to each of you who have contributed to our great awakening.

Each individual's light can be strong enough to influence others, because all you need is that one spark to illuminate the truth. Radiate your truth; sing it out to expose the dark corners and hidden puppetry; the fences that divide and humiliate; the dead bodies of our beloveds, our next door neighbor, or our unknown sister in an unknown land.

Shine on, America! We are on the way to ousting a tyrant!

8. Aww John...
I know I don't. I'd rather spend time on threads like this that are positive and uplifting.

But hearing Diane Rehm assisting in the meme-war against Kucinich this morning -- I just had to get on that NOW and put that to bed.

I hope that my strong stands in trying to point out the truth vs. the lies with respect to Kucnich's policies isn't what prompted this thread.

It's just that I'm beyond sick of the twisting of policies. We need more than anything for people to have a clear understanding of Kucnich's policies in order to ensure that as many people as possible are able to point out the facts if they encounter such spinning, and hope that they will do so when it's needed.

6. I have a lot of faith in Dennis
Most people I speak with have indicated they are agoing to vote for him. However, because of the media blackout, most Americans have no idea who he is. We've only got two months to get the word out. But all it will take is one big break. The more people who know about him, the more people that will vote for him.

Thats great btw. I hope my family members will take a look too. My dad has always been a voter but just goes with the flow so to speak. He really liked the RS article a lot.

10. Thanks for posting this
I'm kind of depressed over the Graham announcement, and it's nice to hear something positive.

11. Your welcome goob
I am really proud my Dad is becoming more political, hes always voted democratic, but hes never been involved in the primaries, he really likes Dennis Kucinich and the platform made perfect sense to him. I am disappointed about Graham too. Remember also, Ive been saying this for like a day now though, for all the bad that has happened there has been acts of good, I guess for that reason I support a man like DK. I wont be able to vote which is a shame but I am happy and feel truly blessed to have a man like Kucinich in the race and to support him, hopefully our generation will have no wars, I am quickly becoming more of a pacifist, reading All Quiet on the Western Front was influential to me in this respect, that quote about peace in my sig is my own but its like how Remarque writes. I hope for peace. Ive read about our great heroes of the past and I truly feel their vision is something else to me, its beautiful. People talk about idealism and spit at it, "Stary eyed idealist" I am an idealist I wont deny it, but I feel in a way we all are.

16. One person can make a difference.
From reading through the posts, I guess I can be glad I worked another 12 hour day and haven't heard about Graham or Diane Rehm. Or more fighting here on DU. Don't tell me; I'll find the original posts for info and skip the fighting.

Meanwhile, I finished reading Dennis' book yesterday, and ordered a bunch more to spread around. Perhaps we should all send one to Rehm?

18. I just love you, Kleeb.
I'm split between Kerry, Dean, and Kucinich. DK is my favorite, but if it comes down to Dean vs. Whomever, Dean has my vote.

20. John you are absolutely right
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 11:12 PM by Amerikav60
It's very clear how DK has inspired you and your father. Other than Dean, I think DK has been the most inspirational candidate as far as getting people involved and out there fighting for what they believe in.

In the end, it doesn't really matter who or what inspires you, it's what you do with it. And I trust that no matter who wins this election, both you and I have been inspired enough by our respective candidates to actually make a difference for a long time to come.

And here's to the people like you, who truly care and can rise above the bullshit!
