Candidate supporter questions: Kerry
In the interest of calling for civility here, I am posting a separate thread for three of the candidates. If you are a supporter of the other candidates, I urge you to copy this thread and post for your candidate. If you are a supporters answer the following questions.

1)How will your candidate fix the Iraq war situation? Will he pull the troops out? Should the president continue to have sole authority to run this war? How does this war relate to the broader War on Terrorism?

2)How will your candidate fix the economy? How does his ideas sit if the economy improves with out without jobs returning? Does he have a larger plan for economic fairness?

3)How will your candidate lead on the issue of civil rights? Affirmative action, GLBT issues, Patriot act, etc.

4)How will your candidate deal with energy and environment issues? How does this relate back to the issue of jobs?

4. I don't think you are a Kerry supporter
I'm guessing you got that and erased your comments in the interest of civility right?

If I were really going to thoroughly address all of these, it would take more time than I've got. I'm going to connect it all together the way I see it.

The issues facing this country are fairly connected. We've got animosity against the US because of our oil dependency and economic policies. Couple that with weapons proliferation in these same regions, and we've got an explosive situation.

Senator Kerry proposes to confront the weapons proliferation with renewed programs to buy them from Russia and other similar countries and work with the UN and IAEA to create real inspections and pressure to eliminate these weapons. In that regard, he is also against nuclear weapons and missile defense which would be the US making the problem worse. On Iraq, he proposes to get UN support and turn over the government, humanitarian and reconstruction. In order to further reduce the tensions around the world, he proposes energy independence and real economic investment in these countries.

Energy independence is also connected to the environment and education. In order to be the leaders in new energy technology, we need education and Kerry has both an increased tax credit and 2 years service for education. Creating renewable and sustainable energy will help the environment, create new manufacturing jobs and give us more leverage when dealing with ME countries.

In addition to a new drive for energy independence to create the next generation of jobs, Kerry also proposes incentives to keep manufacturing jobs at home, help for business to convert to renewable energy, and $20 billion to states to help fund local programs and infrastructure. In addition, his health care proposals will reduce health care premiums for all business and Americans by going after prescription drug gouging, reducing administrative costs, taking catastrophic bills out of the main insurance pool, and providing credits for small business so that almost all Americans will be insured. He also proposes for the federal government to pay for all SCHIP children in exchange for states implementing adult low-income health coverage.

Kerry has been a leader on civil rights his entire life. With this record, I know he will treat the rest of the world with the respect and equality that is often missing from American foreign policy. He fought to have environmental and labor rights implemented in the Jordan Trade Treaty and will make sure we move forward on this as third world countries need their standard of living improved as much as we need ours not to be driven further down.

I've probably missed more of his policies than I've listed. He's tough to keep up with!

5. There are thorough overviews in separate threads
that deal with each issue. They were posted over the last few days by a Kerry supporter. I can bump them.
