3. he is quite verbally adept
Great interpersonal and speaking skills!

As you can see from my avatar, I am a Kucinish man. But after getting a good listen to him and the other on Rock the Vote and just watching Edwards on CSPAN, I have to say that right now if DK is a no-go in the primaries, Edwards would be my 2nd choice so far.

I like the fact that he comes from working class stock. I really really like that.

And when he was (finally) questioned on universal health care, he indicated that he would prefer it, but it would entail so mch debate it would take 20 yrs to get anything done, and he would rather get something done right away. That viewpoint has its good aspect, but then again part of what I am looking for is a person who is willing to fight to get across a viewpoint. A real leader is not just a compromiser, he is a person who wants to change America. Is Edwards that? Hmmm.

Well, I am taking a long term sabbatical from regular work. I am currently self-employed, but only doing sporadic contracting work. I do have health care through the VA, but the nature of self employment has brought to the forefront of my attention the whole healthcare issue, and by association, the welfare state.

I have been doing a lot of research on what the european welfare states have been able to accomplish in contrast to what America offers. The differences in what they and we deliver to citizens are frightening, in many ways. And it is puzzling to me....

WEll, anyway, looks like I need to research Edwards some more.

4. I am quite impressed with Edwards' healthcare ideas!
He really has the right viewpoint. He really does have some ideas for separating health care from employment. THis is SUCH an important concept and it makes me so sad that people fail to realize how much of an improvement this would be for the majority of Americans.

So if DK goes nowhere (and I WILL do some blockwalking for him, the game aint over yet), I will switch to Edwards. I just cannot go for Dean. He simply reeks of the stranglehold that the medical industry has on America. And there is the blueblood factor there as well. DK just has the wild card fighter aspect to him that I think we need.

So what are JE's chances? I know he has not polled much better than DK, which surprises me.

Does he have much money.

I think if Dean gets the nomination, I will vote for the Greens.....

5. Midway through the replay and Wow!
This was a great introduction for anyone to the Edwards.

And the show said Edwards has raised the third most money and would be competitive in every state. I heard on Meet the Press this morning that he was moving up in Iowa, third in New Hampshire, first in South Carolina. So it looks like he has a great chance.

I think Edwards raised a lot of funds early on but later on, as his polls stayed flattish, fundraising slowed down.

7. Getting press like this and MTP should help
It will remind Democrats why he needs to be the nominee. The way is interacts with the people in this audience is so incredible. Can you imagine him against Bush in a debate? He is so knowledgeable, charming, you can see that he is having a great time and you can see the audience is really loving him.

do likewise.

12. Others have tried
The reason Edwards' response stuck was because it was not a manufactured attack. His outrage, like Sharpton's, was real and that's why Edwards had Dean's number. When Kerry or Lieberman or Gephardt has done it, it has been a policy fight that Dean has sidestepped. Edwards has gone after Dean on honesty and judgment issues: honesty about the "I'm the only one who talks about race" comment and judgment and elitism on the confederate flag comment. That is exactly where Dean is vulnerable, so that is where Dean falters.
