Bush Disrespects Veterans |
|
Bush Disrespects Veterans http://blog.clark04.com/At Clark Headquarters we were watching the Veteran's Day festivities at Arlington National Cemetery on television. The camera gets a shot of George W. Bush. He's got his hand over his heart and is chatting with the guy next to him through the whole thing. It was same kind of whisper you use in church. It was unbelievable. This while the Old Guard that guards the tomb of the unknown soldier is being deployed for the first time since Vietnam. We need a leader who respects the service of men and women in uniform. We need Wes Clark.

I know a guy who attended the same Methodist Church as the pres in Midland, TX. He used to doze off and Laura would nudge him. This of course was prior to him being "born again." I don't think he goes to church any longer. Strange? He's the strangest predident ever to hold office, and now that I think about it, hes also "estranged."

Maybe next year he can invite Rush Limbag to make a nice, stirring patriotic rant.

8. "chatting with the guy next to him" |
|
Saturday night I went to a Marine Corps birthday celebration with several family members, where my son is stationed. There were three or four hundred Marines, Navy and family. We saw video of the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps giving his speech, etc., watched the ceremonial drills, heard the visiting general speak, the chaplin, the recorded march music, etc.
Every second there was speaking or ceremony, there was silence where you could hear a pencil drop across the ballroom. The troops were so good at it, we citizens caught it, too. One guy coughed one time, but he muffled it so well, you could probably still hear the pencil drop.
And these Marines were pent-up with partying, all decked out like their wives and girlfriends, with many probably impatient for an end to the obligatory speeches and on to the zodiac boat filled with ice and free beer. I am ex-plain-old-Army myself, but I readily admit that the Marines are the best branch.
We all know our president is no where near the man a Marine is, but the least he could do during the ceremony is keep his damn mouth shut for a few minutes.

this insane war. He couldn't disrepected them anymore than he did on that aircraft carrier staged with lies and deceptions. Our troops deseve better than that.
