So, Juan Williams has decided that an early handover is a boost to Bush
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 01:42 PM by SpikeTrees
My letter to NPR Mourning Edition. I think it is self explanatory. I think that network needs kicked once in a while.

Without any polling, and on short notice, Juan Williams has decided that the surprise early handover is a boost to George Bush. That is what Juan Williams said on this morning's broadcast. Well, thank you not for making up our minds for us.

It is quite likely that the Bush administration decided to handover some power to head off the certain attacks that will happen Wednesday. It is possible that the Bush administration hoped for a boost in popularity by handing over some power two days early. However, there is no way that Juan Williams can assert that moving up the date for handing over power is necessarily a boost for George Bush. I expect that it will be hardly noticed by the public.

I resent it when a member of the press engages in manufacturing consent. Far too much of that was done by the press during the leadup to this horrid war.

edit: I added a sentence before lobbing it into npr and my local affiliates' emailboxes.

3. Manufacturing consent indeed
Williams and his co-whore Cokie have crossed the line from *description* to *prescription*-- telling us what to think.

4. Can't we agree, however,
That it is a good thing for Iraqi's and our soldiers, who are now one step closer to coming home.

5. Good? They will be there for years and years.
This "turnover" means absolutely nothing! It just means Shrub can now say, "Well it is the Iraqis problem."

6. It's a sham
Designed to cover W's ass! It's a puppet government for Bush to blame things on. VietNam had a "soverign" government too. It's all political cover and means nothing!!!

9. Easily fooled huh?
The US has several large permanent airbases in Iraq. They aren't going anyplace. They plan to stay until the oil is all gone.

7. Is he a reporter or just op-ed stuff?
I think Bush is doing the hot potato thing.

8. Well, they describe Juan Williams as a "reporter" on Fox network
Although cranks like me allege through inference that he is GOP.

I think your hot potato analogy is "spot on", like the Brits say.

10. Juan Williams is a homophobe
I despise listening to his reports -- so much that I no longer do so.

13. They probably won't read it. I have written at least 5 letters before
I did get one email from Adam Hochberg on a correction and an email from my local affiliate.

I think they do letters on Thursday. I would expect they would call me first.
