About to Go Insane: Need Help
Edited on Fri Jul-09-04 01:16 AM by Stevendsmith
Today, Bush walked away from a media briefing after refusing to answer questions about his relationship with Ken Lay.

Let me repeat that:

Today, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES walked away from a media briefing after refusing to answer questions about his relationship with Ken Lay.

Photo and story linked below (I realize most of you know about this already)

I've been away from television until tonight. I just watched Newsnight with Aaron Brown, AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THIS STORY.

Someone please tell me that this incredible event was covered by the television media today or tonight.

You can't be telling me that they are burying this one.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES REFUSED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS DOCUMENTED RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MAN AT THE CENTER OF THE MOST NOTORIOUS CORPORATE SCANDAL IN HISTORY.

THIS IS NOT NEWS?!!!!!!!!

And, yes, I am well aware how gamed the corpoprate media is for the right. But a cover-up of this magnitude is just too unbelievable to absorb.

Was this covered ANYWHERE besides the Yahoo images page and the blogs?

1. did you really expect anything different? . . .
we all know that television "news" has two purposes, and two purposes only: 1) to protect the "establishment," and 2) to make money . . . any notion that they're in the business of providing real news is quite mistaken . . .

2. Maybe they'll report it after we embarrass them into it.
It won't be the first time we had to push 'em.

12. Just e-mailed it to Lou Dobbs of CNN...
Lou,
This is from Yahoo News...
http://tinyurl.com/2sjb3

The caption you'll find under the photo is
"US President George W. Bush walks away from a briefing with the media, refusing to answer questions after he was asked about Enron and the reported indictment of former CEO Kenneth Lay, who was a close adviser and fund-raiser for Bush and his father, earning him the presidential nickname of 'Kenny Boy.'(AFP/Paul J. Richards)"
Can you tell me how this is not news? I watched your show, I watched Newsnight, I watched AM this morning...not a peep.
The president of the U.S. literally walked out of a news conference when asked about his relationship with Ken Lay, and some outfit called Yahoo is the only place to find it reported. How can this be?

6. Make your burgeoning insanity heard!
Bombard CNN, et al with emails, letters, phone calls, hastily-scrawled notes wrapped around bricks. The screaky wheel gets the grease and the silent wheel gets screwed.

3. You're NOT insane. YOU are 'normal' and walk among
the 'land of the living'....everyone else is either too scared, uninformed, or too 'well-greased'....choose your poison.

I wish that I could offer something more 'hopeful' than that, but at the mo' that's how the situation appears.

Just airing this stuff out with other members of the land of the living helps.

I am just flabbergasted!

7. I saw it at least once...
but I have no idea where. TV was on as background on one of the broadcast channels and I saw Shrub just walk off when questioned.

I find cable news pretty useless, and I gave up on it a while ago. They just can't figure out how to get an actual 24 hours of real news, and it's probably just as well, since who could absorb it...
