Anyone else getting really tired of the "far left" mantra? |
|
I'm getting tired of hearing this from right wing media whores, usually on Fox (O'Reilly beats it to death), who try to marginalize progressives and/or liberals by referring to them as "the far left".
I don't know what's more headache inducing, righties who just call anyone who points out their lies "far left" or the fact that a lot of the sheeple are buying it. Just look how O'Reilly casually dismisses the fact that MediaMatters.org has been catching him in several big whopping lies by deeming them a crazy far left group.

2. I am tired of it. It has been going on for years now. |

I guess the sheeple will never learn that the liberals are the ones to protect their employment, their environment, and their public education.

who do not - or will not use the word "liberal". I am liberal, I am "left" and damn proud of it. We always let the other side box. "Liberal" is NOT a dirty word.

5. Did you see WF Buckley on Meet the Press Sunday? |
|
He responded to remarks against the Federal Marriage Ammendment with a question about when someone (i can't remember which panelist it was) would be supporting beastiality.
One of the few Conservatives I could possibly still have some respect for!!! - NO MORE!
Not only just plane stupid, but also trite and unimaginative, from a guy who prides himself on brains and style.
They WILL say absolutely anything. Nothing matters anymore.

7. Yes, I, too, am tired of it. |

As usual, my DU friends, you come up with great things. I loved 'sheeple.' LOL!
I also listened to Buckley, briefly, after listening to Rush, for a few minutes (can I say 'by accident'?) bragging what a high IQ he had. Then I listened to him parrot the right-wing talking points, like, well, a parrot. And I thought, "Some intellectual!"

6. You know its bad when the mainstream is being labeled *far left* |

I just read a thread on here that said the Washington Post mentioned a *fetus* as a human that was killed in the train bombing in Spain.
This is pretty frightening.

How every story on the potential postponement of the upcoming elections seems to be required by law to mention that terrorists changed the outcome of the Spanish elections despite the fact that the incumbent had almost zero support due to his backing of the Iraq Invasion.

and I think it is absurd.
To call George Soros, Howard Dean, Molly Ivins and David Corn (much less Al Franken who is a moderate) "far left radical bombthrowers" is just ridiculous.
I have a decent amount of respect for each of those folks (though i don't really care for Soros), but not a one of them is a member of the "far left", much less the next Haymarket generation

one douche actually said flipping past CNN on TV was like watching a Michael Moore movie.
The silver bullet for this argument is to say, plainly, flat-out: when does bad news about Bush stop being bias and start being just bad news about Bush?
I've made a couple "debates" grind to a halt with that.

13. People resort to labels when they can't argue facts |
|
And the bottom line is that right wing policies or, in many cases, so called 'moderate" policies simply won't stand up to honest, rational analysis. An articulate and well educated progressive will win the debate on most issues every time.
The same is true of O'Reilly and others who seem to be more pathological liars. They lie about so many stupid things that are so easy to disprove that they can't afford to be called on it, so they simply try to dismiss the source with a big generic ad hominum. Either that or they rely on their lap dogs in the media to see that their false statements are never brought to light (e.g., Bush fell off his bike because it had been raining).
