While posting on one of my favorite right wing websites countering the Teresa media blitz bullshit, I did a little research (something right wingers are too lazy or stupid to do). I discovered some interesting little tidbits about the Pittsburgh Tribune, the reporter and their history of bashing Democrats.
The Pittsburgh Tribune is owned by Richard Mellon Scaife, a billionaire right wing republican who has made it his mission to defame, libel and destroy Democrats through the use of media. He has funded many ultra right wing organizations including:
# The Heritage Foundation alone, nearly $3.5 million from Scaife foundations in the most recent three years on record.
# $1.22 million to the American Enterprise Institute.
# $1.40 million to Stanford University's Hoover Institution.
# $325,000 to the Cato Institute.
# $575,000 to the Citizens for a Sound Economy, among others.
He was responsible for funding the Clinton investigation in Little Rock, Pushing the Paula Jones story, the Vince Foster suicide conspiracy, troopergate and most of the other Clinton "scandals". He was responsible for getting Newt Gingrich elected and is considered the founder of modern conservatism. He was investigated for paying off witnesses against Clinton (and found innocent by Ken Starr, of course). He has made it his goal to use his money, power and media connections to discredit, attack and defeat any and all Democrats but especially those who see higher office in this country.
From a CNN report:
To his detractors, Scaife is spoiled, vindictive, narrow-minded.
A former Scaife employee, Pat Minarcin, said, "He has the emotional maturity of a very angry 12-year-old, and he has all this money and he can do whatever he wants with it."
In Pittsburgh, Minarcin edited a magazine for Scaife, but resigned. "He presented a list of people who he wanted the magazine to attack, a kind of enemies list," Minarcin said.

The reporter, Colin McNickle (editorialist) who works for the Scaife owned Pittsburgh Tribune has written pieces on the Heinz foundation criticizing the philanthropic institution headed by Teresa Heinz Kerry. His criticism sink to the level of personal attacks against the foundation and Kerry.
Example: "As Jake Haulk, president of the Allegheny Institute for Public Policy, told me (Colin McNickle) in an e-mail, the Brookings study is nothing but "another Heinz Endowments-funded attack on suburban growth."
Mrs. Kerry was well aware the paper this "reporter" worked for. She was also aware of the attacks against her and her foundation. If you listen to the video, in her second confrontation with Mr. McNickle she says, "Are you from the Pittsburgh Tribune? Of course. Understandable. You said something I didn't say, now shove it,".
Since when do editorialist cover press conferences and ask questions? This whole thing smacks of a hack job on Mrs. Kerry by the Pittsburgh Tribune. I support Mrs. Kerry's forceful rebuttal against an obvious right wing attempt at vilifying her thoughtful comments.
Mr. Scaife, Mr. McNickle, and the republican media propaganda machine; as to your attempt to shanghai Mrs. Kerry and portray her in a negative light (again), shove it!
