CNN...What's your stance...?
Is it just me or is CNN finally getting some cajones in reporting real news and being more open to the dissent and anger towards BushCo...?

I have been watching them more and more lately...I still tune into Faux News for a few minutes just to see if they are staying with their "Fair and Balanced" BS...but the only thing I can see is that they are only "Fair and Balanced" when it comes to kissing *'s butt...

What is your stance on the way CNN has been reporting lately...?

1. I don't think they can ever make up for what they've done,
but they do seem to be getting better

2. CNN is not worth my time, especially Wolf Blitzer
I am a news junkie and I find it online. (starting at my favorite message board, of course, the Democratic Underground).

If I were held hostage, and I was forced to watch either Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC, for six hours straight if I wanted to be set free, I would choose CNN. (assuming, of course, that I could choose which one to watch)

4. It's CORPORATE MASS MEDIA
let's see AOL/Time Warner owns CNN. Although it's better than FOX, it's still pretty useless as it really doesn't cover stories that are adverse to corporate America interests. Take a look at who they have on to comment -- it's almost always right-wing or so-called centrists. There is a whole group that are just ignored for the most part -- Chomsky, Zinn, Institute For Public Accuracy, many of hte anti-war leaders, ... many of the guests that Phil Donahue had the guts to have on. They just ignore those voices for the most part. They don't play well with the powers that be in higher corporate America, the people that can make or break their careers.

I'll grant that CNN is no where near as bad as FOX, with the biggest corporate ass kissers on TV in Hannity and O'Reilly.

CNN International, which is shown overseas and on satellite is better. It still is amazing that they show one set of the same news to American viewers and another set to the international viewers. They have to water it down for Americans.

But, make no mistake about it, CNN and CNNI are still corporate America. It won't report for the most part stories and news that are adverse to corporate America.

5. CNN
They are getting better. At least one news organization will dare question the Bush Cabal.

7. I dunno...
I haven't really watched CNN much recently, so I wouldn't know. But, they always came off as centrist to me (and much better than Faux and MSRNC imo).

But what I don't get is how some of the RWers I know bitch about CNN being "communist" or "bleeding heart liberal"... :eyes:

8. still the same
I think it may just be that the goal posts are changing - Fox's efforts have done a lot to make everyone else seem reasonable.

CNN are still not going to be doing too many stories on what the WTO has done for the average blue collar american (not to mention the rest of the world)

Interestingly, here in Australia where we get CNN, MSNBC, Sky News and BBC we don't get Fox cable news, particularly odd given that Fox is one of only two companies that provide cable TV - I was actually wanting to tune in during the war for some light comic relief (had heard some hilarious reports) and bemused to find that Rupert Murdoch seemed to prefer that Australians watch the competition.

I like to think they realised that even in a country fond of it's tabloid trash they realised that calling the french "cowardly cheese eaters" wouldn't be seen as "quality journalism" here

11. I think they're pretty near the center
I don't believe they are either particularly liberal- or conservative-dominated, from what I've seen of it. Of course, if I am fleeing to CNN from FAUX...

12. I don't know and I don't care
I've not watched any of these channels for at least 4 months and don't plan to start. Self respect.
