On the fifth floor of a nondescript building next to Fleet Center they "control" the media. And it seems GOP types at NASA may have actually have colluded with NY Post's Murdoch, to get pictures in the no picture area of NASA so as to embarrass Kerry.
AP NEWS WIRE control was demonstrated when one of their suggested headlines: "Kerry Can't Makeover His Weak Record on National Security" was run by AP with just slight rewording.
From the Article: "It's a very well-run operation," gushes CA GOP Party Chairman Duf Sundheim. "It's a reflection of the 24-7 news cycle."
I do like it when GOP Gov types can work well with GOP Media types.

Republicans fire broadsides to shoot down Kerry's expected bubble

Boston -- On the fifth floor of a nondescript building two blocks from the FleetCenter, Republicans are waging a high-tech media campaign to shatter the carefully sculpted image John Kerry is presenting to the nation this week at the Democratic convention.
About 30 young staffers are fielding phone calls from reporters and firing off e-mails to the media and supporters with titles like "Kerry Can't Makeover His Weak Record on National Security." In the lobby, Republican Party Chairman Ed Gillespie is previewing a videotape to be released later this week that accuses Kerry of waffling in his position on the war in Iraq.
"It's a very well-run operation," a wide-eyed California Republican Party Chairman Duf Sundheim said Monday afternoon as he toured the GOP's rapid-response center. "It's a reflection of the 24-7 news cycle and the need to get on top of it."
On Tuesday, the staff was sending out photos of Kerry as he toured the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Monday in a goofy-looking blue anti-contamination suit. The New York Post put the photo, which had been released by NASA, on the front page in Tuesday's editions. <snip>
Up a set of spiral stairs on the sixth floor, the party has created its own television studio, where Republican leaders take turns doing one-on-one interviews with local stations in battleground states.
Every morning of the convention, the party is holding news conferences with Republican governors, members of Congress and party leaders. At Monday's news conference, Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, a Republican, compared Kerry to the Democrats' last nominee from the Bay State -- former Gov. Michael Dukakis.
"The voters here who know Sen. Kerry best believe that as president, John Kerry would raise taxes, tighten gun control laws, cut defense spending and cut intelligence spending," Healey said. "And they have good reasons to believe that, because they know what his voting record has been for the last 20 years." <snip>
The party also is enlisting surrogates from around the country. Rep. David Dreier, R-San Dimas (Los Angeles County), was in San Francisco for an event this weekend but still managed to do a live interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer to preview the Democratic convention. <snip>
