Rupert Murdoch's Fair and Balanced Relationship With China: 'The Truth Is Authoritarian Countries Can Work'--Award-winning journalist John Pilger writes about Murdoch's "remarkable relationship with the rulers of the world's most populous nation, China. In 1993, in a speech lauding the 'communications revolution', Murdoch said that advances in media technology posed 'an unambiguous threat to totalitarian regimes everywhere'. The Chinese Government responded by banning individuals from owning a satellite dish, thus depriving Murdoch's Hong Kong-based Star TV of its biggest market. Not one to make such a mistake twice, Murdoch set out to appease and court the regime. He started by 'removing' BBC World Service Television from his Asian satellite. The Beijing regime had objected to the BBC's reporting of the Tiananmen Square and Mao Tsetung. 'The BBC was driving them nuts,' said Murdoch. 'It's not worth it. is scared to death of what happened in Tiananmen Square. The truth is - and we Americans don't like to admit it - that authoritarian countries can work.'"

2. He should know. He's trying to build one here.
He's in full support, as propaganda minister, of the new authoritarian American empire. "It can work! Really!"

Add him to the list of America's true enemies .....

Let's see ... if a "terrorist" took over a major media conglomerate that controlled a huge percentage of what Americans see, read, and hear ........ what would we do?

Now that it's under the domination of the P.R.C. He could still speak Einglish on the street, own his own office building, have a great view out the top floor, a great new airport to fly out of, and a local government no longer freely elected, but appointed by the regime in Beijing. That last one sounds a lot like the U.S. right now, huh?

All the Neo-Con Straussians are really coming out of the woodwork in dRoves these days, aren't they? :eyes:

B-)

5. With AIG Insurance's China bias in open view - China seems to own Bush
AIG (Ameican International Group - Greenberg's baby that got it's start in China) is running the insurance company war against any Dem and any any Dem proposal - like single payer national health, medicare perscription drugs, keep liability laws to keep corporations including insurance companies honest - etc.

Very Interesting.

:-)

Remember the Clinton years and the problem was Clinton's Depart of Commerce doing as Reagan and Bush41 did - allowing computer sales to China ...... plus a fund raiser that occurred that occurred after a meeting - where "bad"money was returned..

Now DOL is headed by a China lobbyist, and China seems to own Bush.

And our "not controlled by the RW GOP- we just act like we are" - media says nothing!
