WWVA, out of Wheeling, WV. I know that sounds like a rinky-dink outfit, but it puts out 50,000 watts or whatever. It's heard in something like sixteen states.
Anyway (paraphrasing here), one of the local personalities named Burt said that he reads lefty magazines and righty magazines and foreign news sources because if you don't, you don't get the whole picture. Called the Washington Times a "far right-wing paper," but he reads it anyway, just to see what they're saying." Anyone who only listens to Rush and watches Fox News is ill-informed, says Burt. Those people only hear what the right wing wants them you hear. They shouldn't even be allowed to discuss politics, because they don't know what they're talking about, Burt continues. (I would call Burt a moderate.)
Then the other one, George, laughs and says he thinks it's crazy that people call in and call them (George and Burt) "flaming liberals." Said that if listeners think that they (George and Burt) are liberal, let alone "flaming liberals", then the listeners are WAY too far to the right and should consider coming back to reality. We are well to the right of most people, George says. (George leans to the right pretty good.) If people thing what George says is liberal, then they are "crazy right" or something like that, George says.
Then they went on to slam Bush and the war and the economy and the loss of rights and such for the rest of my ride home, and so did the callers. Even the ones who ended with God Bless America and God Lead The President. This is a change from about a year ago. I enjoyed listening to AM talk radio (that didn't involve sports) for the first time in a long time.
Okay, so they didn't exactly slam Rush, but I had to get you to click.
