Chris Matthews
Can anyone believe Chris Matthews opinion about Cheney winning the debate?

Except for Republican spinners, I heard no one else make such an opinion.

1. I think Chris...
..was dropped on his head as a baby. I can't figure out where he gets his opinions. He's all over the map on all subjects. My biggest question is what qualifies him to be a pundit (hair? looks? loudmouth?)? He's inane.

2. Doesn't surprise me. I quit watching Hardball.
I'm so tired of Matthews pushing his (pro-Bush administration) view to the point of dominating with his show. Every once in a while he'll say something that surprises me and gives me hope. But shortly before the Kerry/Bush debate I'd had enough.

Now I watch CNBC's Capital Report on opposite of Hardball. Gloria Borger and Allan (?) do a good job with it. They might say something I disagree with, but they always clearly preface their opinion by saying it is strictly their opinion. I'd rather see a journalist say that it's their opinion than I would have him/her present it as reported fact.

They also always have both sides and ask good questions. They will call out the spinners from both sides.

I'd highly recommend it. It's been a welcome relief for me!

8. Who can you watch anymore? Except Moyers and Dobbs?

TV political commentary and reporting is a wasteland of Republican propaganda.

3. Check out...
...this article by Eric Boehlert on Salon.com today. While Matthews and the rest of his fellow bloviators at MSGOP were trumpeting a Cheney victory, others called the debate a draw. (Even Fox, fer chrissakes!) Undecided voters gave the nod to Edwards by a 12-point margin.

I watched the debate with friends last night and when our host switched to MSGOP after the debate, watching Matthews and company was bizarre, to say the least. Their commentary pretty much amounted to fighting over who gets to be first in line to smother Cheney's ass with loving kisses. We were all watching them and wondered things like, "What the hell debate did these guys just watch? 'Cheney came loaded for bear and found a squirrel'? Since when does repeatedly lying about his own and Bush's records and smearing John Kerry at every opportunity amount to a strong debate?"

It was a post-debate wrap-up broadcast directly from Bizzarro World.
