'Diary of a Political Tourist' - Alexandra Pelosi

Went to Advance Screening last night, very entertaining documentary! Here is HBO's description:

"Entering primaries...visiting state fairs...kissing babies...shaking hands--everybody knows what candidates have to do in their public quest to earn the nomination for President of the United States. But who are the real people behind the politicians? HBO's intrepid reporter/tour guide Alexandra Pelosi (HBO's Journeys With George) provides viewers with a birds-eye view of this uniquely American process by which we choose a candidate to become the next leader of the free world. This film chronicles her two-year road trip on the 2004 Democratic presidential campaign trail with a group of candidates--Gen. Wesley Clark, Howard Dean, John Edwards, Dick Gephardt, Bob Graham, Dennis Kucinich, Joe Lieberman, Rev. Al Sharpton and John Kerry--as they attempt to make their way into the White House."

Some of the footage is hilarious, candidates eating deep-fried Twinkies, {shudder} trying to be interested in hog-pens in the middle of nowhere, speaking to dozens and sometimes hundreds, sometimes around 8 supporters.

Kerry comes off very well in the doc, at first he didn't want to open up to Pelosi at all, but he eventually gave her a brief interview after cinching the Democrat nomination.

Joe Lieberman sings. Twice. {{double shudder}} Truncated, thank gawd.

It's entertaining, and I recommend it. W makes one or two cameos and comes off as a total ass. No suprise there.

Sorry Kucinich fans, he wasn't in the doc, same for Braun fans.
