ETTV debut celebrated by Taiwan, U.S. leaders

Political, media and advertising leaders from Taiwan, China, Canada and the United States gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate an historic moment in the development of America's non-mainstream media-the debut of ETTV America, U.S. subsidiary of the Eastern Multimedia Group, a Taiwan media conglomerate that owns and operates the ETTV brand. On hand to greet guests for the event that was televised live to millions of viewers throughout North America and Asia were EMG founder Gary Wang (???), Vice-Chairman Chao Yi (??), International Operations CEO Dr. Joanna Lei, as well as Eastern Broadcasting Co. Chairman David Chang (???), and Eastern Home Shopping and Leisure Co. Chairman Rich Chi-peng Chou.

Highlights of the gala included televised congratulations from Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian (???), and a letter from U.S. President George W. Bush, Jr. welcoming ETTV to America's shores. California Governor Gray Davis gave the keynote speech, noting the contributions of Asian Americans to California's prosperity, highlighting legislative achievements on their behalf, and conveying his support of ETTV America's pledge to showcase and champion the interests of Chinese Americans.
