The World According to Bush excellent documentary
Just watched this excellent documentary on CBC News World's Passionate Eye. If you get a chance watch it. It's extremely good.

If you're not yet having nightmares about the world being in the hands of a circle of crazed zealots, this should do it. The World According to Bush, a two-hour documentary about the inner-workings of the Bush administration, will frighten even the most hardened Washington-watchers. Fans and critics of the acclaimed Fahrenheit 9/11 will want to see this thoughtful and damning investigation of the U.S. administration.

Who are the Bushes? Apparently, they're the "quiet dynasty" of modern America-but in reality, their "dynasty" is one of inconceivable family secrets, painstakingly concealed. The current president's grandfather, Prescott Bush, made his fortune by managing Nazi companies after Hitler seized power. In 1942, his companies were confiscated for collaboration with the enemy. George Bush Sr., president from 1988 to 1992, armed and financed Saddam Hussein. He approved the shipping of germ warfare strains to Iraq, enabling the country to launch a chemical attack against Iranian troops and the Kurdish population.

The World According to Bush aims to show how the Bushes, father and son, have not only dined with the devil, but have often invited themselves to his table. The bin Ladens and the Bushes have been longtime business partners, and the family of the future terrorist chief indirectly financed George W. Bush's political career. This unnatural alliance has continued since the Sept. 11 attacks: Bush Sr. is a top official in one of the biggest private investment funds in the USA, Carlyle, a group that has invested heavily in the arms industry. The Bradley tanks and the missiles used in the latest war against Iraq are made by firms controlled by Carlyle…and the bin Ladens. For the latter are Bush's associates within this investment fund.

Sunday October 17 at 10pm ET /PT, repeating Friday October 22 at 10pm ET on CBC Newsworld

1. Partial transcript and info on DVD
A transcript of about the first 20 minutes is at this Indymedia site. I've looked to see if the rest has been transcribed, but I can't find it.

But the entire film is available on DVD, apparently:

The director of the French documentary The World According to Bush (Le Monde Selon Bush), the film that got bumped at the Cannes film festival by Michael MooreÂ’s Fahrenheit 9/11, hopes that he will still find a way for Americans to see his film before the presidential election on 2nd November.

William Karel was speaking on Tuesday at the Vancouver International Film Festival where his film, made originally for French television, had its international premiere. Festival organisers have scheduled extra screenings of the film after it sold out to capacity audiences.

2. Hey thanks for this info. It really is such a great piece of documentary
film making. Expands on a lot of what is in Fahrenheit 9/11 in interesting ways paints an excellent picture of the vile Necons that Bush has surrounded himself with and goes one step farther than F 9\11
and exposes the ties bush's Grandfather had with the Financing of the Nazi's.

3. I watched it tonite...excellent...Too bad it can't be shown in the USA!
For all the talk about your free press down there, you sure don't seem to get to see what the rest of the world sees when it comes to your government....Sorry...that sounds sarcastic and I don't mean it that way.....I just think it's a shame....There are people I have seen on CNN, talking in this documentary and saying things they would NEVER say on American television....One is a former CIA agent (don't remember his name)whom I have seen on CNN occasionally, but who was never this candid....It's pretty powerful.

4. Just read the partial transcript--thanks! A (hopefully) prophetic quote--
"This is my last stop on my way to Washington to serve as your President. I'm excited about the work. I'll come back soon. God Bless."
GWB, address in Midland prior to leaving Texas - January, 2001

He's coming back soon, Midland, if we have anything to say about it!
