How the media make the media appear "liberal" |
|
An interesting observation by Terry Gros (sp?) on Fresh Air tonight, while interviewing Ted Koppel.
She pointed out that cable news make the media look liberal by counterposing an outright conservative, from one of the far right magazines, up against a mainstream journalist.
The implication is: the mainstream media is the balancing liberal voice.
Koppel, asked what he would think of such a pairing if it were he, said "he'd be insulted".

1. MSNBC used to have Bill Press to balance Pat Buchanon, but |

now they have Mrs. Alan Greenspan to balance Buchanan, which means two conservatives, one supposedly an objective journalist.

2. Professional journalists doing their job are inherently fair and balanced. |
|
The VRWC paints them as "liberal" precisely because such journalists exposes its hypocrisy and lies.

3. Labels are so useful because it helps with the lie |
|
The lie is the media is liberal.
The lie helps the VRWC justify its vehement attacks (Oh pity us, we have no voices on the air) against anyone it disagrees with whether a journalist, news personality or host. Recall when Limbaugh called Daschle satan or some such truck. Why did he get away with it? Because the lie gives him the excuse that there is a vast number of people whose opinions don't get heard. Hence he becomes their hero.
The lie also forces the MSM to bend over backwards to accomodate the VRWC to prove it isn't liberal. This means the evil ones get to shout down & interrupt others, spew lies and complain.
It is a sick, sick spiral.
