Religious left radio ???? |
|
In an effort to avoid political conversation today, I started flipping channels on the AM band. I couldn't stand any NPR today since they have twice as much election coverage AFTER the election than BEFORE!!!!
I came across a surprise. A fellow was talking about the DuPont families effort to subvert democracy and the book "Into the Buzzsaw". The station was 93.3 in the Chicago (northwest indiana) area. The network was the Genesis communication group.
Inspection of their website shows they are a "christian left" group. And DAMN was I impressed with the hour or so that I listened!!!
I really didn't hear ANY religion. I just heard hard-hitting progressive journalism railing against the powers that be!!!!
Anyone else know about this network??? Will there be a proliferation of left wing talk radio now that Bush has stole a second term???

I believe there is a vast untapped pool of potential activists with the potential to be at least as influential as the religious right. I remember growing up Catholic in ME, where most people in my church were pretty liberal.

Blessed are the rich for all good things trickle down from them. Cursed are the poor for poverty results from their moral failings. Blessed are the war makers for they keep freedom on the march. Cursed are the peacemakers for they shall be called appeasers. Blessed are those who inflict harsh punishments for they maintain law and order. Cursed are those who forgive for they shall be called soft on crime. Blessed are those who pray loudly standing in the churches and on the corners sounding the trumpet before them. Cursed are those who shut the closet door and pray in secret for their prayers are not heard. Blessed are those who cast the first stone for the sake of sexual morality for that is the only morality that matters. Cursed are those who see sexuality as a private matter for marriage must be defended against them. By me, Brian Shawn Mary

8. Need Catholic Left network |
|
It would be nice to see a Catholic-progressive radio network. The few Catholic networks out there are adapted religious-right stations stuck on Abortion and Gay Marriage. They are Relevant Radio and Ave Maria Radio (Kestra in the Afternoon).
They are more evangelical than Catholic, so that is one way to try to reach out if possible.
