All-out media onslaught for SS privitization
This is another case, like NAFTA and the Iraq war, where the media is shoving one side of the argument down our throats, and ignoring the opponents. (and in both of those cases, the opponents were proven RIGHT in the long run, and the media doesn't admit it, and continues to celebrate the ones who were WRONG.)

The Daily Howler website, and MediaMatters.org, are doing an excellent job of documenting the current massive privitization propaganda offensive.

Interesting to note that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are standing in opposition to the privitization scheme, which according to the mainstream media coverage looks like a wacko fringe position. (Though Nancy made a statement that could be seen as wavering.)

1. Red ink Republican. We must all use this phrase when talking about
their plans for social security. We need to paint them into a corner. This is all people are able to comprehend given their attention span. Red ink republicans, use it liberally.

2. On this subject, I have a thought stuck in my mind
Wasn't one of the reasons FDR thought up SS was because the stock market crashed in '29 (after several years of republican "leadership")? Does this fall under the category of not knowing history results in a repeat.

Red Ink Republicans is right on the money and there is nothing conservative about it. In a similar vein, I have taken to using "Radical Christian Cleric" when referring to falwell and his kind.

services. With the various accounting irregularities they have managed to fleece most of their small shareholders and employees out of their investment/retirement $$. The economy being what it is, most worker bees no longer have any income they can invest and the ones who might are a bit leery.

Privatizing Social Security would force workers to pay into the slush funds of immoral CEOs and their cronies. The effort is pushed by media cuz media is corporate owned. The effort is pushed by politicians cuz they expect chushie, well paid jobs with the corporations after their public service :eyes: days are over.

The crooks are in charge and Americans need to recognize that simple fact.

5. the RW and the whores are distorting what SS is
they are perpetuating the idea that SS is an investment program, and neglecting the real meaning of the program, that it is an insurance program.

They minimize the importance of the people who need those benefits, and they focus on the people who are capable of providing for their own retirement. This gets it exactly backwards, SS is mostly about taking care of people who would otherwise be destitute.

4. The corporate Bastards want to steal our retirement
How many of us bought the scheme of saving for our retirement with "mutual funds" back in the 90's and lost a bundle? That money had to go somewhere. They stole that money, now they want the rest!! The corporate media will destroy this country.
