Clear Channel: No French words on the air.
The local morning guy on the AAR which oddly enough is a CC station mentioned that they were issued a directive not to use any French words on the air. He was talking about a listener party they were planning and almost said “hors d'oeuvres” then corrected himself, saying “appetizer”. He went on to explain about the ban on French words.

2. you gotta be kidding
Is this over the lack of French support over going into Iraq, even AFTER it has turned into a HUGE FUCKING TRAINWRECK ?!?!?!?!?!

My GOD the french now more than ever have a reason to wave a BIGASS flag saying WE TOLD YOU SO!!! right in front of their fascist faces. Yet they still act like they are better ?????

The world will be well served when this vermin no longer soils the face of this nation.

High notes were banned from trumpet players, because this type of scoring was found in American Jazz...

9. Hmmm.. well I guess we won't be hearing them call *
a 'Mouffi ou Moufflarge'

(translation: http://www.notam02.no/~hcholm/altlang/ht/French.1.html#so80)

this is a fabulous site if you want to expand your repetoire of 'colorfully blue' language.

raison d'etre is called in question by this decision.

Of course the fact that English is largely devolved from French probably doesn't bother them ... they are using French words in nearly every sentence without realising it.

12. Exactly.
How about we ban every word that ends in -tion for starters.

Let's begin with:

Privatiza-tion
Militariza-tion
Discrimina-tion
Eternal damna-tion

OK, so that last one was two words. Sue me.

14. Utter dickheads
I'm Aussie and I met a freeper type in a bar in Ireland. Anyway, Ballbag had a few jars in him and the news was on (iraq etc) and he said "Good to see you Aussies have stuck the distancve with us etc etc" and bought me a beer. I started on the beer and told him I thought the war on Iraq was wrong.

He took that reasonably well but then - as Chirac had just appeared on the TV - he started on the French and their perfidy, so I told him my girlfriend was French and I didn't really appreciate his crap.

The look on his face. I think he was more offended by the fact that I was going out with a French girl than my opposition to the war. The wanker.

11. Quels dumbasses.
It really worries me that AAR is tied to CC in so many areas...clearly, this could turn into an opportunity for the right to "co-opt" liberal radio. This is only one (seemingly innocuous) example.

13. So What About First Person Plural?
What are they going to use for that?
I mean, other than us? Don't want anyone to think they're speaking French.
