At the end of 2000, the ten-year budget projection was $5 trillion. Well into 2001, it became clear that we could expect deficits in the future. Why regularly bring up projections that will be rendered moot come Bush's next round of tax cuts anyway?

They don't cover it because they know some clown is going jump up and claim that simple addition has a "liberal bias", and anyone who uses those two words automatically gains control of what does and doesn't get covered in the media.
Also, anyone who uses those two words gets a cable talk show.
