SUDDEN EXPANSION OF AAR TO EVERY RADIO

To win the House back.

Urge your DNC members, AFLCIO, moveon.org and truemajority.org to make this a priority. To subsidize AAR or a clone of it in areas not covered by AAR. I can see DNC or AFLCIO creating a clone they themselves own. But avoid competing in the same towns.

Radio is to win elections, not make a profit. Radio pays for itself on election day.
"The original plan for AAR was to buy stations" i read. Dust off that plan. Let profits be a nice accident: elections are the main goal.

A party without a voice is doomed.

Should have been done in 1920. We would have then avoided Great Depression, VietNam, Reagan, Bushes. Unions would be 90%, as in Sweden.

1. AAR needs to remain independent from the DNC

They, and the others you mentioned, can buy ads, underwrite, give grants, but that's it.

We want free liberal media, not a propaganda tool.(Yes, there's difference.)

But I hear you. We need more progressives on the air waves.

3. Ha! The DNC has held progressives back

If progressives are successful at taking over the reigns it might be worthwhile to have them play a larger role in our movement.

I have no problem with a DNC clone of AAR coming into existence. So long as every US radio can hear some version of the dem message.. centrist DNC, or progressive AAR.

Either would help us win the House and etc.

But some kind of radio net needs to come into existence nationwide, and fast. Very fast.

PS kat, pls outline how you think LW radio can expand nationwide fast. I am listening.

People dont vote for ideas they never hear explained. MSM soundbites during a short campaign wont do the job. Limbaugh is a GOP campaign ad for 2006, and he is on my radio 3 hours this very day. Not one LW show in this town. None.

5. You really think Air America won't be concerned with profit?

If you do, you're dreaming. The first goal of any for-profit organization is to make money. The second goal is to entertain and/or
inform. You really think, for instance, that Micheal Moore made Fahrenheit 9/11 just to inform those who only get their news from TV and didn't think at all of the money he might make from it?

Other than that, I tend to agree. But Air America needs some improvements. For instance, Al Franken's voice is way too dry. He needs to work on it.

I am not in favor of surrepticiously placing DNC or RNC messages in something that is pawned off on the public as objective reporting.

the UAW started i.e. America which didn't do so hot. AAR and liberal talk in general is going strong, you just need patience to let it build up.

8. I agree. It seems like AAR is in a new market every day

Here in the Twin Cities, I'm hearing ads from Tylenol and local ski resorts as well as unions.

I think we ought to hold ourselves to higher standards than the Repugs.

We do have to get better at framing issues and exposing lies for what they are, but I don't believe fighting propaganda with propaganda is the answer.
