New title for U.S. corporate media..... |
|
A friend recently suggested that when referring to the pathetic U.S. corporate media we should call them THE RELAY SYSTEM. I agree.
Pick your channel, pick your anchor, pick your newsreader, pick your pundit....it`s all the same. Most of them scramble to the microphones in a breathless race to announce the newest national talking points. Official regurgitation has its rewards, like having your name on Karl`s To-Call-On list at the next press conference.
Deviation from the script is not allowed as is evidenced by the media`s adoption of official words and phrases: shock and awe, embeds, pacifying Falluja, appeasement, They hate us for our freedom. The list goes on. How I yearn for some fresh voices. Until then, I`ll continue to boycott corporate media which I`ve been doing since November 3rd, with no exceptions.
This mindless collaboration has created a very shallow pool of ideas which has led us closer and closer to a dangerous brand of nationalism. The word "liberal" has been sullied beyond recognition and "moral values" now include killing people who don`t agree with us and demeaning those who dare exercise free speech. It is very, very frightening.

1. I used to be a news junkie |
|
I watched CNN every day and checked their website compulsively.
That all changed when Bush stole the White House in 2000 and they didn't even raise a peep.
I've not trusted anybody in television news since then. Not anybody.
I don't think I ever will again. And that's beyond sad. It's dangerous.

Corporate MSM have begun losing market share to the various independent media outlets. This trend will continue world-wide as more and more people turn away from the corporatist drivel.
