On today's CSPAN-2 televised coverage of a conservative conference for a small group of journalist interns, Ms Fields outlines her history of journalism:
Jews, Southerners and Irish.
the quotes are literal quotes from the broadcast
The Jews got into journalism because they (her on air finger quotes here) "Wanted to do good."
The Southerners got into journalism because they "liked to tell stories".
The Irish got into journalism because they "liked the free booze".
It was a little strange....
